Russell Stelle of Shady Cove is spending several weeks of his vacation visiting his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Bobbins of Seattle. The Stelle's plan to drive to Seattle over the July 4th week end to bring Gary home. Mrs. Floyd Deeder of Kellogg, Ida . is visiting her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hop kins, of Shady Cove. On Friday evening. June 21. at the Assembly of God church starting at 8 p.m. the Simpson Bible College Choir of San Francisco will present a concert of sacred music. Those joining May or Ray Tresham for the occasion were Mrs. Stan Smith, recorder. Fire Chief Dave Kahl, Police Chief Harold Ottosen, City Judge Sam Coy and Councilmen Jake Olsen, on Ashpole and Don McGovern. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Ayres and sons visited Mrs. Ayres' sis ter, Mrs. G. W. Jewett and fam ily in Portland last week. While in Portland the families attend ed the Rose Festival, the Wash ington Park Zoo and went on a guided tour of the Navy ships oocked in harbor for the Festival. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dunifer and sons. Jerry and Ricky, of Sil verton were guests at the home of Mrs. Dumifer's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dristy of Shadv Cove. Mr. a:.d Mrs. Otto Nielsen of Vallejo, Calif , are house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wert of Trail. Mrs. Rufus Trusty of Elk i Creek-Trail made a trip to Kla math Falls where she attended a party given for her grandson. Billy Trusty, who is leaving on Friday for Portland for induc tion into the armed services. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Young of Trail have returned from a trip to San Francisco and the bay area where they visited with friends and relatives. Bert Connor of Shady Cove returned home last Friday from Rogue Valley hospital where he had been confined following an emergency appendectomy June S. Pvt. and Mrs. Jack Pfeifer tr visiting his mother, Mrs. George Pfeifer, of Shady Cove, from Ft. Sill. Okla. Pvt. Pfeifer will be transferred to Ft. Lewis, Wash., on completion of his fur lough. Mrs. Pfeifer has just re turned from Rogue Valley hos pital where she has been receiv ing treatment for injuries sus tained in an accident about two weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson of Los Angeles, Calif., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kindschi of Lr Angeles who are spending some time at their summer home across from Berry's Rogue Woods. Mr. and Mr. Alan Minter of Los Angeles. Calif., have been visiting Minter s sister and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sheppard, Several members of the Shady Cove-Trail Lions club and Lady Lions auxiliary will at tend the Lions convention that marts Thursday, June 20. in Medford. 8he Shady Cove-Trail Lady Lions are the auxiliary which will have charge of keep ing fresh flowers in the hotel rooms of visiting delegates. Mr. and Mrs Victor Paolo and children. Naomi, Donald and Nancy, of Yamhill, were din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Vincent and family on Sunday. The Paola's were nearest neigh bors in Yamhill of Mrs. Marg aret Walker, mother of Mrs. Vincent and Mrs. Vincent went to high school with Mrs. Paola. Mrs Sam Reynolds and son. Cornelius, are spending the sum mer at their home across from Hal Grows market. They re cently returned from Sprague River where Mrs. Reynolds tea ches during the winter. Leonard Winslow. son of Mr and Mrs. Arnold Winslow of Shady Cove left June 17 for Portland where he is to be in ducted into the Navy. A meeting of the Young Citi zen's club was held at the Par ish hall Thursday, June 13. For a project it was decided to work toward a ping-pong and badminton set for use of the teenagers. Other activities were discussed with committees being chosen to contact speakers in charge of these activities. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Parish hall. Mr. and Mrs. Athcl Dudley of Shady Cove, with their daugh ter. Mrs. Tom Quail, of Central Point, went to Roscburg last week end where they attended the wedding of Mr. Dudley's niece. Miss Lila Dudley, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dudley of Roseburg, to William Roth of Roseburg. The condition of the three men who were injured in the one-car accident near Shady Cove early Sunday morning in which Dale Winkle was fatally injured is improved with Tex Burnett and Billy Zimmerlee be ing able to return to their hom although suffering from shock confined to the Osteopathic hos and bruises. Dave Holder is confined to the hospital with a back injury. Mrs. Andrew Brown of Shady Cove spent the week end visit ing her daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. LcRoy Kizer of Grants Pass. At the home of Mrs. Jack Grow this past week was her aunt, Mrs. John Webb, from Pa gosa Springs, Colo., and cousin, Mrs. Elmo Lowell, and two daughters from Mesa Verde, Colo. Visiting them from Med ford was Mrs. Rose Sturgill, mother of Mrs. Grow. Word was received at the city hall this week that the Southern Oregon Humane Society would impose a fine of S100 on any per son carelessly disposing of salmon. Stevie Bonebrake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Bonebrake, was taken to the Rogue Valley hos pital Monday evening for emer gency treatment. "P Only 45 of 2,000 registered voters cast ballots in the recent Tommy: non-partisan election here. Miss Lucy Jones to Attend Study Center Miss Lucy Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Jones. Jacksonville, has been elected delegate of St. Helen's Hall to attend the Junior Red Cross Leadership Training Center at the University of British Colum bia, Vancouver, from June 23 to 29. This is the first Junior Red Cross Study Center to be held in British Columbia and will be attended by students from other parts of the province as well as from the United States. The pro gram includes study of Red Cross programs, preparation of albums to be sent overseas, craft groups, and recreational activities. Miss Jones was recently elect ed secretary of the Junior Red Cross Council of St. Helen's. Oil Painting Class Scheduled in Ashland Ashland The Ashland YMCA will sponsor an oil painting class with Vera Back storm Hausmann as instructor. The 12-Iesson course will start Thursday, June 20, at the Ash land Y building. Mrs. Hausmann has operated her own studio and gallery in Everett, Wash., where she held private shows for leading paint ers of the Pacific northwest. She also taught classes in care and ceramics at Everett Junior college. The course wil be held be tween 7 and 9 p.m. each Tues day and Thursday evening, and the fee will be $12 for Y mem bers and $14 for non- members. The class will be limited to 15 students.
