Allen and sons, Leonard Lee, Sherman and Timothy, of Klam ath Falls: Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Thompkins and sons, Jerry, Den nis. Gregory and Andrew of Lake Tahoe. Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Theuerkaur and children Carol and John of Cr ccnt City. Antonio, Tex. air base. He left Saturday, June 8, for Travis Air Ease, Calif. Visitors at the home of Mrs. Frank Rauber recently were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rauber and two children from Eugene. Home from Washington State college is Jack Champion, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Champion, who brought with him as house guests Karen Cass and Norman Chaffen. two college classmates They left Monday. June 10. for their homes at Elsinore, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Will Beniamine have sold their home on Rocky dale road to Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam A. Crooks of Chicago. The Crooks plan to hove here around the first of the year. Almost completed is the Ben- jamines' home on the airport road. New location for the Vallev Bookkeeping service will be the office next to the state liquor store in the south end of Cave Junction. Owner A m e ' i a Dick has leased the building, and also the house in the rear, which she will use as living quarters. She will move from her present quarters near Bob and Ruth shop next month. ADLAI'S SON TURNS TO THE SEA Getting their sea legs together are John Fell Stevenson, son of the Demo cratic presidential nominee, and this great dane named "Hamlet." John signed aboard the American President linsr SS President Polk as a purser's clerk. Hamlet is trt viling on the Polk as far as India. is !iii?r mmos Mr. and Mrs. Lester E. Hoff, who own the former Causey ranch near Cave Junction, left Saturday, June 15, for their long planned trip to Europe. They will fly from Los Angeles to Paris, by way of New York, and expect to be gone around six months. A visit with Mrs. Hoff's brother, Virgil Wing, will be one of the high points of the tour. The couple hopes to. purchase a German-made car in which to drive through European countries. The Illinois Valley Rural Fire Protection District's annual budget meeting is set for Thurs day, June 20, at 7 p.m. at the city offices. No unusual expenditures are planned. Guests at the Earl Boyd home on the West Side road last week were Mrs. E. L. Martin and daughters, Nancy and Patty, who flew here from San Ber nardino, Calif. Here for a visit with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mickey, was A3c Dan Mickey of San Over 60 persons attended the Immanuel Methodist church din ner Wednesday night to hear the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Kingsbury speak from the Methodist con clave at Corvallis. A closed wire circuit installed by the Red woods Telephone company brought voices of the minister and his wife. Bishop A. Ray mond Grant, and others to the Cave Junction meeting. Visitors from Medford. Wild erville and Grants Pass Metho dist churches were present. Bridgeview Community church! Wednesday. MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE SEVEN The Illinois valley Ministerial skating party is planned for Fri day, June 21 at 7 p.m. at the Grants Pass RoIIerdrome. A plaque will go to the church having the highest attendance. The Finch bridge, which is to be built at Kerby, was referred to in a recent Courier item as a S10.000 structure. One zero was omitted in printing. The cost of the bridge will be close to $100,-000. Surprise visitors at the George W. Martin home in Cave Junc tion last week were old friends Dr. and Mrs. Walter T. Harvey, who were en route home to Pitts' burgh, Pa., after spending the winter in Arizona. Dr. Harvey is a retired Pitts burgh physician. Mrs. Norma Burows, pincipal at Evegreen school, entered Jose phine General hospital for ma jor surgery Wednesday. She is reported as doing well. Larry Rosenberg, sort of Mr. and Mrs. Don Rosenberg, is home from Oregon State col lege. He will start work as a smokejumper at the Aerial proj ect Monday. A guest at the Rosenberg home is Don's mother, Mrs. Dollie Rosenberg, of Pasadena, Calif. A guest at the Wilmer Carter home in Kerby is Mrs. Mabel Jackson of Portland, Carter's mother. Lois Brink, who has been em ployed at the Redwoods Tele phone company, left by air Thursday for Los Angeles, where she will stay with her son, Bill, at 4832 Nob Hill drive. Her mother, who has been visit ing her since her recent opera tion, drove to Los Angeles last week with Bill, who came up to assist Mrs. Brink with moving. The Deer Creek Grange is planning a turkey dinner for Sunday. June 23, from 12 until 5 p.m. The public is invited. Next Illinois Valley Grange meeting is planned for June 20 and will start with a potluck dinner at 7 p.m. Vacation church school at the No June 19 meeting of the Bridgeview Sewing Circle is planned because of vacation church school. If weather permits, the July 3 meeting will include a picnic at the Bridgeview parsonage. A dinner guest at the Jim Holton home last Friday was Christine Duncan, who was visit ing in the valley from Sommer ton, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Darrol McGihon and children. Diane and Gene, airivej Monday from Truckee. Calif., to visit Mrs. McGihon's father and aunt and their fam ilies. Harry Causey and Mrs. Nettie Sowell. On Thursday Mrs. Sowell. Mrs. McGihon and the two chil dren left on a six-weeks trip to Alaska, where they will see Mrs. Sowell's son and family at Anchorage. Members of the Illinois Valley Flying club will have a repre sentative of the Civil Air Patrol as a guest speaker at their next meeting June 24 at the Robert Steimer home. Mr. and Mrs. Steimer were hosts at the club's Monday ses sion, when a further discussion on the purchase of a plane was held. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Wooddy this week is Mr. Wooddy's uncle. Ralph Jamie son, of Mullen, Idaho. Jamieson is a retired assayer for the Morning Mine at Mullen. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Howland's Western Auto store got a new coat of white and red paint this week, applied by Harry Esk ridge of Selma. David Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Y. Arnold, employed as a smokejumper at the Siskiyou Aerial project this summer, made his first jump on a fire Monday at Mud Springs. He returned from St. Martins college, Olympia.
