June 9. 1957 Ceremony jln Eugene Weds Pair Central Point Of interest to friends of the Gebhard family is news of the wedding of Miss Lenore Carol King to Lt. Vernon LeRoy Gebhard, United States Air Force. The ceremony took place May 9 in University Street Church of Christ, Eugene, Ore., and the newlyweds will live in San Angelo, Tex., following the bride's graduation from Oregon State college this month. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard F. King, Eugene, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gebhard, Central Point. The Rev. Leo Woodruff per formed the double-ring cere mony. Soloist was Miss Betty Perrine and Miss Patricia Mc Coy played the organ. The bride's gown was of white raw silk and Alencon lace embroidered with pearls and sequins. The bodice was fashion ed with an Italian neckline and the skirt ended in a chapel length train. Her fingertip veil of nylon tulle was held by a pearl tiara and she carried a bouquet of white carnations, valley lilies and Elfe roses. Mrs. Lyle Defrees. matron-of-honor, wore a blue taffeta sheath frock with a cummer bund and back panel of Italian lace. Her flowers were valley lilies and pink carnations. Other attendants were Mrs Jon Roth, Mrs. Marvin Rings dorf, Miss Lois Stitner and Mrs Eugene Tenney. Their frocks of various shades of blue were styled similar to that worn by the honor attendant and they carried pink carnations and lily-of-the valley. The flower girl, Shalline Dwy er, wore a dress of white or gandy over pink taffeta with a white lace hat. Bruce Tysell was ring bearer. The Misses Alice Stiles and Carla Norman li g h t e d the candles. Lyle Defrees was best man and ushers were Norman Mc Donald, Salem; Roger King, brother of the bride from Eu gene; Jerry Johnson, Pasadena, Calif., Brent Fifer, Corvallis, and Loren and Kenneth Geb hard, brothers of the bridegroom from Central Point. The reception was held in the church parlors. Pouring and as sisting were Mrs. Roy Nieder hiser, Mrs. Frank Caddy' Mrs Vern Anibal, Miss Florence Stacy, Miss Barbara Cox, Miss Marjorie Metzger, Miss Marilyn Anibal, Miss Jan Attig, and Mrs. Robert Wright. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon on the Oregon coast and later Lieutenant Gebhard re ported for duty at Goodfellow Air Base, San Angelo. He was graduated from Oregon State college in 1956. Visitors Leaving For East Monday Jacksonville Mr. and Mrs. Burmeister, Jr. and daughters, Dorothy and Linda, expect to re turn by plane Monday to Bell more, N.Y., after spending a week with Mr. Burmeister's par ents in Jacksonville and with his sister, Mrs. Frank Mitchell, also Jacksonville. Mr. Burmeister is a sales rep resentative in New York of the Cramer Posture Chair company, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Burmeister are former residents of Medford, where he was an insurance sales man eleven years ago. He is re tiring July 1, and the Burmeis ters will live on their farm in Pennsylvania. The family enjoyed fishing while in southern Oregon. They reported the coincidence of the air line stewardess on their trip west also having the name of Burmeister. Carr, 16 Florence avenue, announce the engagement of their daughter, Isobel, to Philip G. Johnson Jr., Oswego, Ore. He is a son of Mrs. Philip G. Johnson, Seattle, Wash., and the late Mr. Johnson. Miss Carr was graduated from Medford schools and Southern Oregon college, Ashland, where she was active in campus affairs and a member of the student council. For the past school year she has been on the staff of the Lake Oswego. Ore., schools. Mr. Johnson, a graduate of Seattle university, is an indus trial engineer with Crown Zel lerbach corporation at West Linn, Ore. The wedding will take place September 21 in Sacred Heart church here. Miss Carr's school will close June 14 and she will travel to Victoria, B.C., for a vacation, re turning to Medford later to spend the summer with her fam ily here. En route home she will be a guest of Mrs. Johnson in Seattle. 1 Travelers Return After Stay Abroad Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fair weather and daughter. Miss Chloe Fairweather, have re turned to their home on Dark Hollow road after a stay in Europe. Miss Fairweather was abroad for many months, spending most of her time in Italy. She at first enrolled for three months at the University for Foreigners in Pe rugia to study the Italian lan guage, and then went to Rome. There she attended Parioli, a language school, for a time, and coached Italians in the English language. Last fall Miss Fair weather enrolled in the Univer sity of Rome, taking all her courses in Italian. She studied in the school of arts and letters, taking languages, history, Ital ian literature and art. The Fairweathers joined their daughter last winter, and after leaving Italy, traveled in Eng land and Scotland ,to visit Mr. Fairweather's relatives. In Lon don they met Lt. Robert Gray of Medford, currently on duty at Oxford, England, and spent sev eral hours with the officer. 4 Mrs. Herbert IWley Home From Trip East Mrs. Herbert Tilley, 115 West Ninth street, Medford, has re turned to ther home after a trip south and east. She visited her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mason, and their daughter, Terry in Hawthorne, Calif. From there she visited her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Tilley, and son, Allen, in Pasadena, Calif., be fore leaving for New York City and Boston. On her return trip she visited friends in Bloomington, 111. Several were held this week end, and others are planned for succeeding weeks. Planned for Sunday, June 16, is the wedding of Miss Marcia Houghton to Richard Padgham. The ceremony will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal church at 2 o'clock with the reception to follow at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Berthold Barnum on South Pacific highway. Miss Houghton's attendants will be her two sisters, Mrs. Alf Guldahl of Seattle, and Mrs. Elmer McDade, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Mr. Padgham's sister, Miss Ann Padgham. The wedding of Miss Minnie Yvonne Stimson of Ashland and Herbert Ray Chapman of Med ford is to be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Trinity Epis copal church, Ashland. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. L. I. Stimson, 106 Walker avenue, Ashland, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Chapman, 1041 West Eleventh street, this city. Among late June weddings will be that of Miss Avadna Peterson of Homedale, Ida., to Kenneth Boshears, son of Mr. and Mrs. Miner T. Boshears, 408 South Grape street. The rites will take place June 29 in Med ford Friends church. The bride elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Peterson of Home dale. Solins To Leave For California Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Solin of 942 Park avenue are leaving Medford this weekend for Santa Barbara, Calif, where they will make their home. Accompanying them will be their two children, Loren, 13, and Jean, 10. The Solins have made their home in Medford for the past seven years while Mr. Solin was employed as a forester for Elk Lumber company and Mrs. Solin taught at Howard school. In San to Barbara Mr. Solin will be a partner in a sports concession in ! connection with Santa Barbara ! county park. i While in Medford the Solins have been active in civic affairs. North Africa, where he is stationed with the United States Air Force. Staff Sergeant Matteisen has completed one year of a three year assignment in North Africa. Mr. and Mrs. Mattheisen are both graduates of Medford High school. Mrs. Mattheisen is a daughter of Howard Davis. Ukiah, Calif., and Mr. Matthei sen is a son of Mrs. B. B. He will attend the wedding of a cousin while there and will spend a week with relatives be fore returning to Medford. Mr. Peterson was graduated from Medford High school Thurs day evening. The Croskreys attended the graduation of their son, Robert, from Eastern College of Educa tion at Cheney, Wash., June 2. The son, who received his bache lor of arts degree in education, plans to teach in the Klickitat, Wash., schools this fall.
