Clare "No Pockets" Hoff man (R-Mich.) wants to protect the words "Congress" and "con gressional" from being used by just anyone. The 81-year-old congressman who wears no-pocket trousers has introduced bills that would ban use of "Congress" or "con gressional" in a publication title when that would convey the false impression that the publi cation is authorized by Congress. The bills also would ban the publications from the mails. Just the Beginning But that could be just the be ginning. The government al ready bans all commercial enter prises from implying they are federal agencies by use of such title as "United States and U.S." Congress might decide to extend the law to cover "Con gress" and "congressional." And what about such hallowed words as "senator," "Senate" and 'House?" The Washington telephone book alone contains 64 listings under "Congress" and "congres sional" including the Library of Congress, which doesn't have to worry, and Eugene A. Congress, who might have to. The listings include the Con gress Barber bnop, congress Beverage Co., Congress Heights Service Station and Congression al Intelligence. The last listing is the name of a firm, not an editorial comment. Equally Interesting Then there are the listings under "Senate." They sandwich the U. S. Gem, Mineral Clubs To Hold Meet Here Eagle Point Northwest Pow Wow Gem and Mineral clubs from Washington, Oregon, Ariz ona, California, Nevada and Utah will meet for four days starting today at the Bar Lew ranch on Brophy rd. at Eagle Point. About 600 people are expected to be present to hunt rocks on the ranch and bring rocks for exchange. The field trip is spon sored by the Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral club. This double event will grace Jerry Lewis' second XTnn rrr. r 1 Aline Mosby no-x v snow as a single because he's the fath er of Gary and the son of Danny. The idea of helping his son start in show business seemed a natural for a program near Father's Day because Jerry will be repeating an incident from his own life. "I did a number, 'Sonny Boy,' with Dad 25 years ago in vaude ville that's how I got started," Jerry explained during a three way interview with the Lewis clan in the comedian's home. "Out of the blue I started doing this same song with my own son at home and realized it would be a good way to break Gary in." "Aren't these wonderful? For 30 years I was in vaudeville, clubs, radio," said the elder Lewis, who is young and good- looking enough to be Jerry's brother. "I played the Palace Theater in New York in 1953, my act was 'Songs in a Nostalgic Man ner." Then Jerry went in there four years later singing my same song, 'Sonny Boy.' His Jol- son-type songs, you know, are what I used to do. When you hear us sing you can't tell us apart. "My wife, Rose, accompanied me in vaudeville, and when Jer ry was 8 he got in the act. I didn t want him in show busl ness because I'd had lean 'years and I didn t want him to struggle but he got through to his mother. 'Still Pinching OurielTM "Before we turned around he was 18 and a married man, then with Dean Martin and a big star. We're still pinching ourselves. It's like a dream." Five years ago Danny gave up his act to help Jerry manage his records. How does the elder Lewis feel about having his son pass him up on the fame sweep stakes? "Everybody likes recognition, sure I'd like my name on a mar quee," admitted Danny. "I'm proud to be Jerry's father, but when people introduce me as his father well, I'd like them to know my name." "Hey, this is my interview," broke in grandson Gary. "I'm going to be like my dad. I want to be just like him. Dad has taught me how to get the right notes when I sing.
