The event will be staged in the new Crystal Springs warehouse at the end of South Fir St., in Medford. . Entertainment Set Producers predicted today that the four-day show in Medford will be the largest of its kind in the state, outside of Portland, in number of exhibits and expected attendance. Entertainment feature at the show will be Jimmy Wakely, Decca recording star. Also fea tured in the stage show, to be presented three times each day, will be the Great Montyne from the El Sullivan show, the Sing Lee Sing troupe, the Chinese Mouseketeers, singing Blanche Cooper and others. Exhibits Planned Exhibits include home building materials, appliances, furnish ings and a variety of displays of interest to the homemaker. Most local merchants displaying mer chandise in the show have re ceived special 'exhibits from manufacturers and distributors. Most items displayed have not yet been seen in local business houses. Doors will open at noon each day, except Friday when the opening is set for 5 p.m. The show will last until 11 p.m. each day. Transportation Help Suggested Chicago (IP) The federal government must help large cities solve their mass transpor tation problems if it is to get full value from its seven-year, $30 billion arterial highway pro gram, Mayor Richardson Dil worth of Philadelphia said to day. - "The very life and future of our big cities depends upon so lution of their mass transporta tion problems," Dilworth said, "and the health of our urban areas is of tremendous concern to the nation as a whole . . ." Dilworth addressed a lunch eon session of a two-day clinic on : coordinating metropolitan area transportation. Public officials, highway and traffic engineers and business men from all parts of the nation were participating in the confer ence to focus attention on the transportation needs of great ur ban areas. Grants Pass Men Hurt in Accident George William Detrick Jr., 27; Grants Pass, and Fred Hubert Munhoven, 34, also of Grants Pass, received minor injuries about noon Sunday in a one-cr accident on the Missouri Flat rd. State police said the car, oper ated by Detrick, was traveling north on the road and went out of control on a, curve, Detrick reportedly told police he swerved to avoid striking an unidentified southbound car. The Detrick ve hicle weht onto some loose gravel on the right side of the highway, hit an embankment and turned over on its left side. Officers said neither of the men was injured seriously enough to be hospitalized. The car was removed from the scene by wrecker. Turkey Counts 50 Earthquake Victims Istanbul, Turkey -HP) Res cue workers today found 40 more bodies in nine ruble strewn Turkish villages today, bringing the death toll from the gunday eartquakes to 50. The quake hit hardest at the village of Bolu in northwest Turkey where residents panicked when a mosque was toppled. It was felt here, in Ankara and other cities. Several hundred homes were destroyed. Some 286 homes were destroyed in the Modurnu dis trict alone. Radar System Tells Performance of Missile Washington UP) The aircraft industry has developed a revolu tionary instrumentation radar system which now makes it pos sible to evaluate immediately the performance of a guided mis sile. Planes, official publication of the Aircraft Industries Associa tion, said the new radar system is capable of tracking the mis sies with accuracy over vast ranges through darkness clouds and varied atmospheric condi tions and yielding the necessary data immediately. The publication said the new radar system represents 10 years of advanced research and dev elopmerit. Prior to its introduc tion, data reduction methods re quired months of computation. Trapping Profitable Sideline for Farmer Powers Lake, N.D. (IP) Trap ping is a profitable sideline for William Lucy, who operates a 1,240-acre farm northeast of here. He sold nearly $1,200 worth of pelts during the past year. . . "We make about $700 from trapping each winter," Lucy said. The secret of profitable trap ping, he added, is not to trap too close. "We leave quite a few musk rats as food for the mink," he explained. "We set our traps about a mile apart." x About 35 per cent of all homes in the U.S. are heated by coal, 1950- census figures showed. - Drain Man Slain; Woman in Hospital Drain, Ore. OP) Garrett Alva Maupin, 62, Drain, was shot to death and Myrtle Miller, 57, was wounded seriously here Saturday. Maupin was found dead in a bedroom and the woman was un conscious in another room. Doug las county sheriff's deputies said they were waiting until the woman was in better condition to get a full report as to- what occurred. She was taken to a Eu gene hospital. ' 1 Colby College Bell One ; of: Most-Traveled Waierville.Me. IIP) Colby college students boast one of the world's most-traveled col lege bells. The old bell, which was cast at the Paul Revere Foundry in 1824, was once shipped by stu dents to Harvard ' University where students shipped it to the University of Virginia. The Virginia students dispatch ed it to her majesty, Queen Vic toria, via New York. But it was intercepted and returned by Col by authorities just before it was to be put on the boat for Eng land. . The blaze, an increasingly popular item of sports attire, takes its name from the British warship Blazw. Over 100 years ago, before naval uniforms be came common, the Blazer's fashion-conscious captain outfieed his crew in blue jackets with brass buttons. Johnny Dio's Trial Halted Indefinitely New York tip The trial of John (Johnny Dio) DioGuardi, charged with master minding the acid-blinding of labor columnist Victor Riesel, was adjourned in definitely today because the key witness against him refused to testify. United States Attorney Paul W. Williams moved for the ad journment saying the govern ment is "powerless" to prosecute DioGuardi and three codefend ants at this time in face of the "challenge" of the silent wit nesses. Williams asked for an adjourn ment, rather than a dismissal, to permit a Grand Jury to investi gate how, when and by whom the two key witnesses, both serv ing federal prison terms, were intimidated. FRIED SQUIRREL New Bern, N. C. (IP) A squirrel recently caused the big gest power failure here since hurricane lone in 1955. The squirrel was capering on a pow er pole and took a notion to balance his back feet on another. He was electrocuted instantly.
