Innovation seems to be the watchword of America's banks these days. Once rather staid and somber institutions, banks today are going all out to streamline their facilities and services. A few of the more recent changes: drive-in teller windows, left handed checkbooks, piped-m music, and special win dows for the "small-fry" customers. And now comes banking by television. This latest innovation, introduced recently in New KnglanH, em ploys a closed-circuit television hookup by which the customer, seated in his car, and the teller, in the bank, can see and talk to each other. Underground pneumatic tubes do the job of transferring money and papers back and forth. Television banking is quick, too. An ordinary de posit or withdrawal takes less than a minute not counting the primping time of lady customers before they go "on camera."
