CLYDE KELL Gold Hill At the last meeting of the Gold Hill PTA, Thursday afternoon, May 9, in the Hanby school gym, PTA officers for the commg year were installed. Dur ing the meeting a tribute was paid to Gold Hill grade school teachers, and spring style show was presented. Prior to- the business session, the teachers who will not be re turning to Gold Hill schools next year, were given potted plants by various mothers while Mrs Paul Molloy and Mrs. Norman Gail sang a selection arranged by Mrs. Ogden Kellogg, program chairman. Teachers leaving are Mrs. Marguerite Black, Mrs. Ger trude Jacobson, Miss Mary Klocker, Mrs. Lois Stabler, Bill Brewster and Roland Griffith. Large red apples were present ed at the close of the song by room mothers ,of those teachers who plan to return next year. Those staying are principal Gilbert Mack, Mrs. Wilda Franks, Mrs. Ida von Buskirk, Mrs. Barbara Toner, Mrs. Marie Brannock, Miss Louise Ramsey, Mrs. Mildred Black and Dean Roberts. - Mrs. Gail, a past, president of the local PTA, was in charge of installing . the new officers. Among those installed were president, Mrs. Floyd Taylor, who was presented a president's pin. Mrs. Taylor also served in this office last year. Others in stalled were Mrs. Walter Do herty as vice president, Mrs. Les ter Wakeman secretary and Miss Louise Ramsey, treasurer. Iris corsages were presented to each new officer by Mrs. Cecil Johnson, also a past president of the local PTA, who assisted Mrs. Gail with the installation. The corsages were made by Mrs. George Dorman. The theme of the installing ceremony was: "To rededicate ourselves on the ob- jects"of PTA." Reports were given during the business meeting by the retiring treasurer, Bill Brewster on the financial expenditures for the year, and the cost of the projector machine, which is to be one of the PTA projects next year. Mrs. Kay Kilbourn, who is the president of the Crater , High school PTA, Central Point, at tended the meeting. She extended an invitation to parents of those young people graduating from the Hanby school this year to at tend PTA at Crater next year. She at this time urged all par ents of those in high school to take part in the PTA organiza tion there. A spring fashion show was fea tured by girls of the seventh and eighth grades home-making classes under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Marguerite Black. Narratives for the affair were written by Vervia Beman, a seventh grade student and Les lie Meister, who is in the eighth grade. Narrators for the fashion show were seventh grade, Vervia Beman and Charlotte Dillan, eighth grade were Maria Jen nings and Ann Taylor. Spring dresses were modeled by seventh graders Donna Johnson, Doris Golden, Reba Taylor, Judy Force, Linda Ramsey, Bonnie Knapp, Judith Higgons, Barbara Brown, Sue Woodward, Mary Governor, Mary Beth Bailey, Janice West- fall, and Vervia Beman. Eighth grade models were Connie Mor ris, Erma Governor, Leslie Meis ter, Wanda Huffman, Vickie Les ter, Mary Huber, Jackie George, Terry Turney, Marelyn McCoy, and Teresa Klein. The girls chose their own' patterns and fabric and made the dresses themselves, according to Mrs. Black. This was the fourth an nual style show to be given by these classes. First grade room mothers were in charge of refreshments served at this meeting. Donald von Buskirk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl von Buskirk, 1030 North Pine street, Central Point, was initiated April 30 into the Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honorary Fraternity at the Uni versity of Oregon. Don is a sopho more at the University. He was also elected social chairman of Campbell Co-op, a campus men's club. His mother, Jda von Buskirk, has been a teacher in the Hanby school' for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Andrews and son, Steven, of the Upper I River road. Gold Hill, and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Castello, of Med ford, went to Dunsmuir, Calif., last Sunday, where they attended church services at the Church of Christ. At this time they saw for the first time after its hanging the mural which Mrs. Andrews painted recently for the church. It is a scene of Mt. Shasta and I Abrahams Lake. Many of Mrs. Andrews' oil i paintings have been selected for j the "picture of the month" by i Southern Oregon Artist Society, ; I of which she is a member. "Christian Mothers' was the topic of the lesson at the last meeting of the Women's Chris tian Alliance of the Christian church, when this group met at the home of Mrs. Leonard An drews Thursday, May 9. The meeting was conducted by the president Mrs. Rex Allison. Devotions were led by Mrs. Joe Kavalaski. Plans were made at this meet ing to purchase furniture for the Sunday school department of the church. Funds were raised for this project at a recent rummage sale "sponsored by this group in Grants Pass. Plans were also made at this time for "guest day", which will be a tea at the church on the next regular meeting of the Al liance in June. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. Pauline Baugman left rec ently for her home in Higgons ville, Miss., after a ten-day visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Fink. She had spent the winter in Arizona and southern Cali fornia before coming to Oregon. The Finks took their guest to Crater Lake, Crescent City and the Azalia state park at Brook ings while she was in southen Oregon. The women were girl hood friends in Missouri.
