r GOLD HILL Tennis Club Organized By MRS. CLYDE KELL Gold Hill Over 20 young people have registered in the re cently organized tennis club lor grade school students of the Hanby school. The club will be under the leadership cf Jose Corona of Gold Hill, who will be assisted by Mrs. John A. Jaksch of the Old Stage road, and Mrs. Al Beman, who lives on High way 99 J'orth. There are three classes. The advanced classes are held each Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. The intermediate classes are taught on Thursday evenings from 6 until 9 p.m., and the be ginners from 10 to 12 noon Sat urday mornings. Those participating will be required to have their own ten nis rackets. There is no charge for the tennis lessons. Corona is also teaching tennis classes for high school students at Crater High school. Further information may be obtained by contacting Corona, Mrs. Jaksch or Mrs. Al Beman. Corona was born in Monterey, .Mexico, and attended the Uni versity of Mexico, where he was a star tennis player for the uni versity team. He has participat ed in professional tournament games in both the United States and Mexico. He and Mrs. Corona came to Gold Hill two years ago. They have six children and he is employer at Ross Lumber co. in Medford. A. Allan Franzke, deputy dis trict attorney of Jackson county talked to 32 boys at t h e last meeting of the Gold Hill Junior police, Thursday evening, May 2. His subject was on the court procedure of law enforcement. $090 45 Qt I armVflr a $050 Pinl following this meeting re freshments were served by Mrs. Stanley Brown and Mrs. Floyd Taylor. Mrs. Roy Eskew and Mrs. Lenard Andrews helped furnish cakes and punch for the meeting. At the previous meeting the question of "hot-rodding" with in the city limits was brought before the group by Chief of Po lice, Floyd Taylor. The boys voted that anyone 'iolating this law will be brought before the Junior Police the first two times. If the same person vio lates the law the third time, he will be taken before the Gold Hill city council for sentence. Refreshments were furnished for the April 25 meeting by Mrs. Kendal Dufur, Mrs. Cecil John son and Mrs. Clarence Freeman. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Freeman served the refreshments follow ing that meeting. Den Four, of the local Cub Scouts, met at the home of their den mother. Mrs. Stanley Brown on last Thursday afternoon. There are 11 boys in this den. Mrs. Brown gave a talk, which was a combination of fire pre vention indoors and outdoors, along with conservation, and preservation of wild life. A dis cussion followed. Bill Payne of Gold Hill, who is formerly from London, Eng land, assisted Mrs. Brown with instruction on wild life. He gave a demonstration of many differ ent bird calls, and helped the cubs get started on building bird houses. Mr. and Mrs. George Davis and children, Donald Dian Vicky were hosts to .. family dinner recently at their home on the Old Stage road. The birth days of George Davis, who ob served his on April 23 and Bill Davis, who will celebrate his May 7, were observed at the din ner party. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pugh, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pepper and son. Jack, of Med ford, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davis, Mrs. Dale Clement, Mrs. Ernest Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Davis and sons, Jerry and Glen, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Payne, Mrs. Reta Peacock and Mrs. Rolen Rose-cran. Plans were made to attend the F -iendship night at Olive Re bekah lodge in Medford at the last meeting of Amethyst Re bekah lodge, May 1. Mrs. Norman Gail, good of the order chairman, was in charge of the evening's program. Mrs. Paul Thompson, Mrs. Lester Thompson, and Mrs. Gwen Her rington were given ten minutes to create a hat from materials furnished by Mrs. Gail. Refreshments were served, following the meeting, to 18 members by Mrs. Gail, Mrs. Harry Quinn, and Mrs. Melford Hood. According to Mrs. Gail, each Rebekah will be asked to tell a humorous story at the next lodge meeting, as a part of the evening's program. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Hilkey and family of the Upper River road and Mr. and Mrs. Guy War ren and their family, from Cen tral Point, went to the ocean, where they spent the week end fishing. Penny Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Taylor of Table Rock, spent the week end at the home of her grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Taylor of Gold Hill. Wednesday, May 8 19S7 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE SEVEN A meeting of the Gold Hill ' PTA will be held Thursday aft- i ernoon at Hanby school. The of ficers for the ensuing year will be installed at this meeting. Mrs. Marguerite Black's class will present a fashion show. Refreshments will be served by the first grade mothers. Nearly 125 students, including those in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades at the Hanby school will participate in a mu sic festival this Friday evening, May 10, at 8 p.m. in the Hanby g"m. All types of songs will be presented, under the direction of teachers Mrs. Gertrude Jacob son, Mrs. Lois Stabler, Mrs. Mar guerite Black and William Brewster. Charles Cook, band instructor, will direct the band. According to Dean Roberts, a display of arts and crafts will be shown that evening in the basement of the Hanby school. The work will include that of boys from, the sixth, seventh and eighth grade shop classes, who have been under the instruction of Roberts. The Woman's society of the Community Methodist church will meet at the home of Mrs. Roy Eskew on Sardine creek Friday, May 10, at 1 p.m. Mrs. Paul Molloy will be in charge of the program for thL meeting.
