Salvage Salei Six salvage sales In Jackson county are on Battle Mountain, Morrison creek, the Butte Falls Prospect rd. in the Sykes creek burn and two in the Dead In dian area. In Josephine county there is a green sale located on Upper Lower Grave creek and two salv age sales on Upper Jump-Off Joe creek. The salvage sales vary from 37,000 board feet to 815,000 board feet while the green sales vary from 382,000 board feet to 5,786,000 board feet. The June sale will probably contain about 15 tracts of timber 2nd more than 60 million board feet of volume, according to the district forester. PENNY A DAY Saginaw, Mich. (U.FS Mrs. Mary Francis Humpal, a natu ralized citizen, read of plans for a new American Museum of Im migration to be built at the base of the Statue of Liberty and de cided to contribute a penny each day she had been living in this eountry since Nov. 17, 1920. In return for her contribution, she received a certificate naming her "a master builder" of the museum. , ' Two Tracts of Timber Sold at Oral Auction Two tracts of timber were sold by the Medford district of the bureau of land management at an oral auction timber sale April 26. Only one offer was re ceived for each tract. The first tract included an estimated 187,000 board feet of salvage blowdown timber on Upper Cow creek in (Douglas county. The tract was purchased by Albert Janko and Ira A. Sut ton of Canyonville. Cecil Maphet of Murphy pur chased an estimated 2,605,000 board feet on Thompson creek in Eastern Josephine county. The tract involves relogging of approximately 326 acres. The district has also announc ed that 16 tracts containing an estimated 22,486,000 board feet of timber will be offered for sale at their office in the Med ford city hall on May 16. This sale will consist of seven tracts of green timber containing an estimated 20,570,000 board feet and nine racts of timber class ified as salvage which contain a total of 1,910,000 board feet. Twelve of the tracts and 18, 384,000 board feet of the volume are located in Jackson county while the remaining four tracts and 4,102,000 board feet are in Josephine county.
