Ceremony AtChurch Weds Couple Jacksonville Baskets of white stock and blue delphinium dec-, orated the First Presbyterian church in Jacksonville Saturday April 20, for the wedding of Mrs. Donna Doranne Taylor and William Wesley Johnson. The Rev. Ernest R. Volkman of the Presbyterian church in Phoenix officiated at the double ring cere mony held at seven thirty o'clock in the evening. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Davies of Jacksonville. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Johnson of route 2, box 463, Medford. Given in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a waltz length pink chiffon frock over net styl ed with full skirt. Her short veil was held by a small pink flow ered hat and her satin shoes and gloves were pink. She carried a nosegay bouquet of white car nations, pink roses and steph. anotis. Mrs. James O. Cabler attended her sister. She wore a blue dress with matching hat and blue satin slippers and gloves. She carried a nosegay bouquet of white carnations and blue del phinium. Alvy S. Kendall of Central Point served as best man for his brother-in-law. Seven year old Dale Cabler was candle lighter. She wore a white and yellow frock with white and yellow flowers in her hair. Mrs. C. L. Robinson played the traditional wedding music. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the home of the bride's parents in Jackson ville. White carnations, pink sweetpeas, and white tapers dec orated the rooms. The bride's table was covered with a pink lace cloth. Mrs. A. E. Reinking cut and served the wedding cake and Mrs. Jerry Montgomery presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Kenneth Norris poured the coffee. Miss Vicki Tweedy was in charge of the guest book and at the gift table. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Davies chose a lilac colored raw silk sheath dress with purple accessories. Mrs. Johnson wore a navy blue dress with white accessories. They both wore orchid corsages. For her traveling attire the bride chose a white and yellow flowered sheer with yellow jack et and matching accessoris. Her corsage was a brown and yellow orchid. Following a wedding trip to the Oregon coast, the newlyweds will make their home in Ashland. Out-of-town guests at the wed ding included Mrs. Anne Davies of Medford, paternal grandmoth er of the bride; and Mrs. Bonnie Large of Williams, Ore. The bride is a graduate of Jacksonville schools. The bride groom attended Jacksonville schools and Southern Oregon college. He is employed by the First National Bank of Portland, Ashland branch. , Shop at the Pink Store ... Where You Park at the Door Chapter Honors 50-Year Members; Pins Presented Charter and fifty-year mem bers were honored by Reames chapter, Order of Eastern Star at a' meeting Thursday evening, at Medford Masonic temple. Three new 50-year members were presented pins by the wor thy matron, Mrs. Morris Bough- ner. They were Mrs. H. R. Burke, Mrs. Melvin D. Overby and Mrs. Esther Coleman. Other honored members of the evening were Mrs. W. R. Duffy, Mrs. J. W. Watkins, Mrs. Orrie Stoddard and Mrs. Enola Hamil ton, all members of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Mrs. Hamilton j . now liv ing in San Francisco, but made the trip to Medford especially for the occasion. Other fifty-year members, but unable to be present, are Mrs. Margaret Fabrick, Mrs. R. G. Fowler, Mrs. E. D. Elwood, Mrs. Mattie Pickel, Mrs. Ella Mae Lance, Mrs. Mamie Riddle and Mrs. Lillian Woodford, who was represented by her daughter, Mrs. Curtis Jester and Mrs. H. U. Lumsden, who is also a char ter member of Reames chapter. Refreshments were served in the dining room, and included a special "birthday" cake for the honored members. Crater Auxiliary Plans Initiation Initiation will be held by Cra ter Lions auxiliary at the month ly meeting Wednesday, May 1, at the home of Mrs. Floyd East wood 940 Shafer lane. Hostesses for the meeting are Mrs. East wood, Mrs. Dan Dwyer and Mrs. Warren Brenner. Mrs. George Potucek, initia tion chairman, will conduct the ceremonies for Mrs. Howard Lage and Mrs. Hugh Friel. The auxiliary has been asked to arrange entertainment and decorations for a "fun breakfast" for the state Lions convention which will be held in Medford June 20 to 22. Dr. Charles P. Schleicher, pro fessor of political science at the University of Oregon . will be the guest speaker. Officers for the coming year will be elected during a brief business meeting following luncheon, according to Mrs. Robert Hiatt, president. - Dr. Schleicher, who also will take part in the annual conven tion of Oregon United Nations 7';i Jy Miss Marcia Moser Betrothal Told In California The engagement of Miss Mar cia Moser, daughter of Mrs. Mae Belle Moser of Brawley, Calif., to Stanley Kalapus Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kalapus of 2156 Hillcrest road, Medford, was announced recently in Brawley. The announcement was made at a meeting of the Brawley Business and Professional Wom en's club held in the Planters hotel. Both Miss Moser and her mother are members of the group. Miss Moser is a graduate of Brawley Union High school and the Mercy College of Nursing. She is employed as an obstetri cal nurse at Pioneers Memorial hospital and is an American Red Cross home nursing instructor. Mr. Kalapus is a graduate of Medford High school and the University of Oregon where he was affiliated with Sigma . Phi Epsilon, social fraternity. He is now serving with the United States Navy in the medical corps and is stationed at the Marine Corps Recruit depot in San Diego. No wedding date has been set Councils to Hold Medford Session Councils of Oregon Townsend clubs will meet Sunday, May 5, in Carpenters' hall, Medford. Sessions will open at 10 a.m. and a potluck luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. At ' last Wednesday's club meeting, 43 members were pres ent; Mrs. Thornton Arnold pre sided. Birthday cakes were served in honor of Mrs. Josephine Whaley, Mrs. Ray Ahart, ; Mrs. Mary Page, ' Mrs. Cecilia Crawford, John R. Burgett, Edwin Wolters, Ira Clark and A. W. Ellison. The annual finance drive of the: Medford League of Women Voters has been set for Monday, May 6, according- to Mrs. Robert Hiatt, outgoing president. The one-day drive will provide an opportunity to discuss the league's effectiveness and pur pose in the community, as well as to provide an opportunity for busy citizens to help financially with league work. A goal of $500 has been set for the campaign, with dues and contributions from league mem bers making up the rest of the group's budget. . In line with the policy of leagues throughout the country, the Medford group solicits con tributions . from a relatively small number of interested in dividuals, Mrs. Hiatt said. To insure its non-partisan study and action . concerning government, the government, the group does not solicit contributions from firms or fractional organizations, she explained. About 20 league members are expected to take part in the May 6 finance drive. Patricia Maxson Becomes Bride, of Jacob Germann Miss Patricia Lee Maxson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Maxson,- 208 Clark street, Med ford, became the bride of Jacob P. Germann, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Germann of route 1, box 596, Central Point, in a cere mony held Thursday, April 11. The wedding was held in the First Methodist church at one o'clock in the afternoon. Dr. Raymond Balcomb officiated at the single ring service. The bride wore a white cotton frock styled with full skirt and lace-trimmed bodice having a square neck and puffed sleeves. She wore her white flowers in her hair. Close relatives and friends at tended the wedding and recep tion which was held at the Max son home after the service. The bride is a student at Med ford High school. The bride groom attended Crater High school and is serving with the United States Navy. VFW Auxiliary Initiates Three Three new members were in itiated into the auxiliary of Steelhead Post, Veterans of For eign Wars, Shady Cove, April 19. Initiated were Mrs. Phil Alicki, Mrs. Gene Weitman, and Mrs. Howard Baker. Plans were completed for the Loyalty day program to be held by the post and auxiliary Wednesday, May 1, starting with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Auxiliary members volun teered to help with the Shady Cove Fireman's ball to be held May 4 and plans were discussed ! regarding a public auction and rummage sale to be held in the j Veterans home Sunday, June 2. The auxiliary held the annual Easter breakfast and. visited Camp White domiciliary April 26. ..'..! Beauticians to Hold Meeting on Monday Mrs. Winnie Hardenburger and Mrs. Lorraine Miller will demonstrate hair cutting and shaping at the next meeting of the Medford unit of Oregon Beautician's .association. : The meeting will be held Monday,-April 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Winnie's Style salon on East Main street. They were honored first at a party April 14 when Mr. Hogue's relatives gathered for dinner at their Kerby ranch home. On Easter Sunday their daughters. and families, as well as other relatives gathered' to congrat ulate the couple. Included among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clem Sauer, Jack Sauer and sons, Gary and Mickey; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sauer and son; Gladys Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Willson and son, Donnie, Mr. and Mrs. Dave White and daughters, Anita, Davetta and Jeanena, and Mrs. Lillie White and her son Hugh. The couple was surprised on Wednesday when the Rebekah Lodge presented them with a gift anniversary cake. : Both Mr. and Mrs. Hogue were born in the Illinois Valley, she at Holland and he at Selma. They were married at the Old Meisner ranch across the river from Kerby by its owner then justice of the- peace. To Initiate Four candidates will be init iated at the Wednesday meeting of Mt. Pitt Rebekah lodge of Central Point. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m. in the Central Point Odd Fellows hall. Members with April birthdays will be honored and the men in the lodge will' be hosts for the evening.
