Du-img (Distributed by King Features Syndicate, Inc.) Both garlic and onions are said to be very beneficial to the health. Especially garlic. With garlic being so beneficial to the healthy why did nature bestow such a disagreeable odor upon it? Same goes for onions. Do you recall a brief poem asking when "the Burbanks of the glorious west" would originate an onion that had "an onion's taste but a violet's smell"? That seems a fair question. It seems the prize for the most curiously named street in the U.S.A. should certainly be awarded to that Locust Valley, Long Island thoroughfare called "Skunk's Misery rd." With "Mis treating Alley," Port Arthur, Tex., a close second. As for third place how about "Toughnut st." in Tombstone, Ariz.? Sidelights If your new baby says "Mama" first, your next child will be a boy. If it says "Papa" first, the next will be a girl. That's what the mother of many children says has been her experience . . Teddy Tingling, celebrated Brit ish dress designer, is six feet, six inches tall. As you will re call, Teddy hit the international spotlight when he designed that tennis costume for "Gorgeous Gussie" Moran which featured lace panties. Get It Right The immortal advice, "Go West, young man, go West," was first offered by John L. B. Soule in an editorial in the Terre Haute, Ind., Express. In A Few Words , It was .Bernard Baruch, who said, "It seems to me wrong for people to retire, and worse to be compelled to retire. An older person can often do more in less time than his' more physically spry junior. He has learned to pace himself. He knows the short cuts and the pitfalls. He has acquired judgment and sta bility. For all this there is no substitute. Not e;en youth." Asking Queries from clients. Q. Who are the world's best cooks, Ital ian, German or French? A. The world's best cooks are the Chin ese.
