TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Student Exhibit Opening Today Anyont interested in art is in vited to attend the fifth annual student art ahow to be held at Medford High school today and tomorrow im the boys' gymnas ium. The annual show is held each year during Girls League week. More than 200 pieces of art work done during this school year in the classes of Warren Wolf will be on display. Hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. and students will serve as hosts to those attending the exhibit. Some of the works displayed wHl be those which won prizes in the annual Scholastic Art will be water colors, tempera, oils, sculpture and commercial art displays. 4 Club to Meet Jolly Stitcher club will meet with Mrs. Homer Bringle, 106 South Orange street, Friday April 19. Prospect A number of com- j ing events were announced at I the last meeting of Prospect Lions' auxiliary, held at Beckie's cafe, Union Creek. Mrs. Del Ted rick was a visitor. It was announced that Ser geant Poulson, in charge of the Ground Observer corps, Med ford, will speak at the Commun ity hall in Prospect Thursday, April 18, at 8 p.m. He will show films and the public is invited to attend. The annual zone social meet of Lions clubs will be held in Ashland Friday, April 19, at the Elks club. A social hour is set for. 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. with a program to follow. A jamboree will be held at the Community hall Tuesday, May 7. Little Jimmy Goode, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Goode, is the auxiliary's candidate for king of the Pear Blossom festi val to be held in Medford Satur day, April 27. Prospect auxiliary will make all the covers for menus to be used at the Lions' state conven tion to be held in Medford June 20-22. ' Mrs. Ralph Young and Mrs. Lowell Ash reported on the auxiliary's spring board meet ing held in Salem recently. Mrs. Joe Josephson and Mrs. John Gartman reported on a visit they made to Oregon State School for the Blind. To Elect Medford Jaycettes will hold election of officers at a meeting at the home of Mrs. Calvin McKibbon, Central Point, Wed nesday, April 17, at 8 p.m. Co hostesses will be Mrs. Walter Smith and Mrs. Marcus McKen zie. April 17, 1957 Third Class Set On Family Law Eagle Point The third class in a scries being held on family business and the law will take place at Eagle Point Grange hall Thursday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. All people in the commun ity are invited to attend these informative sessions, sponsored by extension units and with Medford attorneys as speakers. At the last meeting of Reese Creek Extension unit, held at the home of Mrs. Merle Mc Graw, Crater Lake highway, of ficers were elected. They are Mrs. J. L. Duncan, chairman; Mrs. Ronald Mattheisen, vice chairman; Mrs. J. W. Martinson, secretary and Mrs. F. W. Powell, treasurer. Twenty-four women attended the all-day meeting. Food for next month's 4-H auction is to be donated by Mrs. D. L. Crandall, Mrs. Cliff Moore and Mrs. William Jackel. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, May 7, at the home of Mrs. Joe Whipple, 1946 Delta Waters road, Medford. AH wom en of the Reese Creek commun ity are invited to attend. Corps Announces New Commissions Portland The Women's Army corps is now offering direct com missions as second or first lieu tenant to college graduates be tween 20 and 33 who meet the mental', moral and physical re quirements, it was announced today by Captain Lillian E. Baker, WAC recruiting officer for Oregon and Southwestern Washington. Those women who are accept ed for commissioned assignment to the corps will serve for two years, twenty weeks of which is devoted to a thorough briefing in military procedures at the WAC Center, Fort McCiellan, Ala. During orientation the women receive the pay and allowances of their rank. After their brief ing, they are assigned to a va riety of interesting jobs ranging from company duty to personnel management and from public re lations to intelligence. They receive the same pay and allowances as their male counterparts. Free medical care, 30 days' paid vacation annually, steady promotions, planned ca reer patterns, and retirement in comes are theirs. Mrs. Fred Dougherty Hostess for Meeting Of Past Noble Grands Past Noble Grands' club of Olive Rebekah lodge held the last meeting at the home of Mrs. Fred Daugherty on Kings' high way. Mrs. Dollie Love, presi dent, conducted a business meet ing and plans were made for a bazaar and food sale May 11 at City Appliance company, 127 North Central avenue. Mrs. Orpha Wendell was pro gram chairman and serving were Mrs. O. S. Walden, Mrs. Lewis Thompson, Mrs. W. H. Dyer and Mrs. Irene Shirley. Next meeting of the club will be in the home of Mrs. Annie Corby, 310 Laurel street. The committee will be Mrs. Ed Da meron, Mrs. Carl Pearson, Mrs. Carrie Milnes and Mrs. Dorothy Kight. Pitt Naz arene church, spoke at the last meeting of Woman's Christian Temperance union here. The church was dedicated last Sun day. i The pastor, who was a youth worker in Los Angeles before coming to Medford, spoke of his work. The minister and his "wife were introduced by Mrs. Holly Michael. The Rev. Loyce C. Carter, pastor of the Apostolic church was introduced by Mrs. Robert Taylor and presented the devo tions. Donations were voted by the union for the work of Miss Verna Cingcade, who teaches Bible study in Medford schools, and to Sam Morris for radio work. The union also voted to buy several copies of the book "The Cup of Fury" by Upton Sinclair, for distribution. A rummage sale was planned for June 6, and members are asked to save articles for this. He was chosen for the 1957 edition of Who's Who in Colleges and Universities. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Culhane, reside at 713 West 13th street, Medford. Young Culhane left today for Seattle where he will be induct ed in" the Navy and will then report for pre-flight training in the Navy's ' officer candidate school at Pensacola, Fla. After completing the 16 weeks pre flight training, he will be com missioned. A graduate of Grants Pass High school, the young man has been employed by Barker's in both the Medford and Grants Pass stores. 4- Felixianne CTub Has Brunch Party Felixianne club held the last meeting at the home of Mrs. Elmer Gott on South Ivy street. Each member brought photo graphs of herself taken as a child, and wore an article of antique clothing. Mrs. Gott wore a shoulder cape which had be longed to her grandmother, and on the serving table were a sugar bowl and spoon holder which Mrs. Gott had received as wed ding presents more than 50 years ago. How to improve the care of the patient through the best utiliza tion of nursing personnel was the subject. Miss Elizabeth Moran, director of nursing, Henry Ford hospital, Detroit, Mich., and a member of the Board of Directors of the American - Nurses' association, spoke on "Team Nursing An Instrument for Better Care." "Overcoming Resistance to Change" was the subject of a problem clinic led by John Wat kins, Ph.D.. clinical psychologist of the Veterans' Administration, Portland. It will begin April 23 and will be held Tues days and Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. It is stated that mothers must be in the water with the child,. The instructor, Mrs. Lanell Wilkes, will teach mothers the proper methods of teaching swimming and they then will instruct their own children.
