To Install Jacksonville Adarel chapter, Order of Eastern Star, will hold a stated meeting Thursday, April 18, in the Jacksonville Masonic temple. Mrs. William Winning ham, worthy matron, states that visiting members are welcome to attend. Pythian Sisters Announce Visit !Of Grand Chief Mrs. Armon Brown, grand chief of the Pythian sisters of Oregon, will make her official visit to Talisman temple here Tuesday, April 16. A banquet in her honor will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Wood en Shoe Dining room. Committee for the evening is Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs. Emilie Conrad, Mrs. Jimmy O'Duane, Mrs. Louis Porter, and Mrs. Arnold Motschenbacher. The regular meeting of the Pythian Sisters will be held at 8 p.m. at the Pythian building. The Pythian club met Tuesday with Mrs. Max Hawks at Shady Cove. Following the business meeting refreshments were serv ed and cards were played. To Visit Nurses Mrs. Bertha G. Byrne, new executive secretary of Oregon State Nurses' association, will visit the district 4 Nurses' asso ciation meeting Wednesday, April 17, at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held at Sacred Heart hospital. It was the first time that Hillah temple Shriners had entertained an . imperial potentate, and the second time that an officer of this rank had been in Medford. Banquet Honors Imperial Potentate Gerald D. Crary, Deadwood, S. D., imperial potentate of the Shrine for North America, and Mrs. Crary were honored at two social functions in Medford Friday. Most important of these was a formal reception and ban quet given by Hillah temple Friday evening at Rogue Valley Country club. A cocktail hour preceded the banquet. This is the second time an imperial potentate has visited Medford, and the first time such an of ficial has been entertained her,e. About 150 attended. Imperial Potentate Crary, who is a member of Naja temple in Deadwood, was welcomed by Eugene G. Favell, Lakeview, Ore., illustrious potentate of Hillah temple, and members of the divan. Potentate Crary ar rived from Eugene Friday mor ning and spent the day trans acting official Shrine business with officers in Ashland and Medford. During the evening Potentate Crary addressed the gathering in the interest of the organization. He and Mrs. Crary left Saturday for Reno, Nev., in the company of Mr. and Mrs. Hamer Hollo way. Mr. Holloway is potentate of Kerak temple, which Mr. Crary will visit this week end. Members of the divan present for the function at the Country club were Chief Rabban L. B. Mrs. Jorgensen was hostess for a tea at her home on Hill crest road Friday afternoon wliich honored Mrs. Crary. Re ceiving during the event were wives of . divan members, and wives of past potentates poured. Guests were wives of past poten tates and divan members, wives of committee chairmen and of uniformed unit heads. The rooms of the Jorgensen home were decorated with quan tities of flowering fruit branches and other spring blossoms. - Kiwanian Dames Make Plan For Annual Luncheon Kiwanian Dames are working hard on plans for the annual luncheon and style show to be held. May 6, at 12:30 p.m. at Rogue Valley Country club. The event will also feature an after noon of cards. Reservations may be made by calling the Country club, telephone 2-5965 before Friday, May 3. Mrs. Fred Morlan is general chairman and Mrs. T. G. Polk, co-chairman. Assisting are Mrs. John Raapke, decorations; Mrs. L. W. Buonocore, tables; Mrs. E. M. Anderson, reservations; Mrs. Raymond S. Wise, prizes; Mrs. Paul Dix, entertainment; Mrs. Robert W. Voegtly, menu;. Mrs. Delmer L. Wright, invitations; Mrs. Ed Barnett, television. Commentators for the pro gram will be Mrs. Paul Selby and Mrs. Boyd Budge. A committee headed by Mrs. Victor Milnes will select the "mystery model", who is always a woman well known in her field in the city. Those chosen in the past were Mrs. Marjorie Hopkins, executive secretary of the Girl Scouts at that time; Mrs. Olive (Bren H.) Starcher, women's editor of The Mail Trib une, and Mrs. Gretchen Wade, home economist of Station KBES-TV. Luncheon Planned By Republicans Speaker for the Jackson coun ty Republican Women's club Monday, April . 15, will be from Portland according to Mrs. Wayne Stine, president of the club. : The meeting will be a noon luncheon at Mon Desir in Central Point. , . The identity of the speaker has not been disclosed, but Mrs. Stine said his subject will be of interest to the women of Jack son county. - Crater Lake post and auxil iary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will hold their annual installa tion Tuesday, April 16, at 8 p.m. at the Veterans hall. All officers and members are asked to attend a practice at the Veterans hall today at 7 p.m. Miss Holte Wed To Ernest Scott In Reno Ceremony Miss Joyce Holte, formerly of Medford and now of San Jose, Calif., and Ernest L. Scott of this city were married in a ceremony at Reno, Nev., Saturday, April 6. The rites took place in First Methodist church, with the Rev. Mr. Thomas officiating. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Phair of Medford attended the couple. For the ceremony the bride wore a black sheath jacket dress with fur cape and broad-brimmed black hat. Her corsage was of deep pink orchids. Mrs. Phair wore a black dress with pink rosebud corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Scott will be at home at Plaza Apartment 703 after the middle of May. Mrs. Scott will arrive today from San Jose to spend a week's spring vacation here. She is a teacher in the rehabilitation department of Santa Clara County hospital, San Jose. The bride came to Medford during World War II and served as a hostess at Camp White. Later she was employed by Med ford Elks's lodge as a secretary She left Medfor more than three years ago to teach poliomyelitis and tuberculosis patients in the San Jose hospital. Mr. Scott is widely known in Medford, having served as ex ecutive secretary of Medford Elks for about 24 years. 4 Sharon Whitlock Cast in Production Corvallis Miss Sharon Lee Whitlock, Medford will take part in the productions of "The Merry Widow," musical show scheduled by the Associated Independent Students of Oregon State college for Mothers' weekend, May 10 to. 12. Miss Whitlock will dance in the performance. AIS presents a musical' show for . Mothers' weekend each spring term. "Miss OSC" is se lected by audience vote during the three performances and in troduced lhe final night. A freshman majoring in elem entary education, Miss Whitlock is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Charles P Whitlock of 1425 Crater Lake avenue, Medford. She is a 1956 graduate, of Med ford high school. , Hungarian To Talk For Siskiyou Club Ashland Dr. Nicholas Nyar adi, former minister of finance of Hungary, will speak to the Siskiyou . Knife and Fork club Tuesday, April 23, at the Ash land Elks club. Dr. Nyaradi, who has recently returned from investigating the Red Underground in Europe, came to the United States in 1948 and "has been fighting Rus sian enroachment policy through articles since that time," it is stated. He is now professor-at-large in the departments of his tory and political science at Bradley university in Peoria. 111. Visitors Leave For California Grandview-Lone Pine Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Archibald and little son, Max, left March 30 to make their home in California after a visit with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Archibald. He will be a technician in the radiation department in the lab ratory of the University of Cal ifornia at Livermore. Mr. Archi bald finished a course at Oregon Technical institute in Klamath Falls the middle of March. Mr. and Mrs. James Archibald and son, Scott, of Willow Creek, Calif., were week end guests at the Archibald home at the same time. f Oak Grove Neighborhood club will be entertained by Mrs. Walter L. Wilson at her home, 232 Janney lane, Tuesday, April 16, at 1:30 p.m. Dessert will be served by the hostess. Federated Clubs To Hold Session In Talent Church Talent Talent Community club will be hostess group for a district convention of Federated Women's clubs Thursday, April 18. The convention will be di rected by Mrs. Carl Petersen, Ashland, who is district chair man. Registration and a coffee hour will be held at the Talent City Hall from 9 to 10 a.m. Members will convene at the Methodist church at 10 a.m. for the busi ness sessions. A luncheon will be served at noon in the church social room.
