also are welcome. Among those
they'll see in action are two
state champions of 1956. Bud

medals and other prizes given
by the sponsoring group.

has put the shot 54 feet 6 inches
already and Mike Murray's 47-4
put it the best ever made by a
cophomore at the local school.
Jerry Close, state champ in the
broad jump, has a measured leap
O of 21 feet and Eldon Francis,
state titlist and all-.merican in
1955, hurled the javelin 180 feet
this week.

to place bets on horse races.
Van Brocklin said he had a
telephone conversation with a

the pro football star owed $700
on bets placed over a four-day
period.
Van Brocklin said he reported
the incident immediately to Sid
Gilman, coach of the Rams. He
denied placing any bets.
The former University of Ore
gon star, who is in business here
during the off season, said Bert
