I J ... .-. . $:-:d,X Mr. and Mrs. Thomai Dal Coiley (Landis-Shangle photo) Colley-Brozvii IV :dding Held At First Methodist Church First Methodist church was the setting Monday, March 11. for the eight o'clock evening wedding of Miss Marlene Mir iam Brown and Thomas Dale Colley. Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb officiated at the ceremony at tended by 125 relatives and friends. The brid is a daughter of William Brown Jr., 539 Fair mont street, Medford. The bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Colley, Prospect. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a ballerina length gown of white lace over satin. Her fingertip length veil was held by a seed pearl crown and she carried a bouquet of white orchids and slcphanotis on a white Bible. Miss Margaret J. Hamilton, maid of honor, wore a blue frock styled with long bodice and straight skirt. Her headdress was a crown of blue net and she carried a bouquet oSf pink car nations. Bridesmaids were Miss Susie Colley, sister of the bride groom, and Miss Naida J. Smith. Their dresses were in pink fash ioned as Miss Hamilton's and they carried blue carnation bou quets. Candlelighters were Miss Jane Killingworth and Miss Molly Walker. They were dress ed as the bridesmaids and car ried white candles with pink net. Little Alicia Colley was flow er girl and wore a dress of blue nylon with matching headdress and white gloves. She carried a white basket with blue and white petals. Robert R. Brown, broth er of the bride, and William Col ley, brother of the bridegroom, ushered and seated the guests. Baskets of white stock decor ated the church and white satin bows decorated the pew ends. E. Ronald Rice was soloist. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the recep tion room of the church. The room was decorated with bask ets of white chrysanthemums, pink snapdragons, and green ery, and red roses decorated the punch table. Miss Freda Brown, aunt of the bride from Sherwood, Ore., cut and served the cake that was baked by Mrs. Ira A. Spires. As sisting in the serving were Mrs. Jack Reinks. sister of the bride groom, and Mrs. William Colley. sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Mrs. William Colley, cousin of the bridegroom, was in chaYge of the guest book. For her traveling attire, the bride wore a rust colored suit with green and beige accessories and the orchids from her bridal bouquet. After a wedding trip to Washington state they are making their home at 416 Oak street, Medford. The bride attended Medford High school and Robertson's Business school in Medford. She is employed by Jackson county as a deputy county clerk in the county clerk's office. The bride groom attended Crater High school and Southern Oregon col lege. Mireh 24. 1957 Ceremony In Chapel Weds Pair Mrs Jewell Wilder Harsh man. Portlann became the bride of Everett Arthur Faber, Cen tral Point, In a ceremony held March R in Meeker Memorial chapel. Fir;' Methodist church in Medford The Rev. Meredith Groves of Eugene, superintend ent of the Eugene district of the Methodist church, officiated with Dr. Raymond Balcomb of Med ford assisting. The crreniony took place at four o'clock in the afternoon, with 50 relatives and friends at tending. A eccption followed In the church parlors For the redding the bride wore a pin suit and hat and carried a hite silver -edged Bible with three pink orchids. Mrs. J. Scott Hcatherington was matron-of-hon..r. She wore a gray suit with matching hat and carried a white Testament with an arrangement of pink hya cinths. Donald A. Faber was best man for his father and ushers were Donald E. Faber. brother of the bridegroom, and Richard L. Stratton, his ton-in-law. Mrs Gerald Sherman was at the organ, nnd Dr. J. Scott Hcatherington sang. ' Pink candles decorated the altar and white standards held pink snapdr-i?ons. The pew bou quets were of pink snapdragons with pink ind silver ribbon. The receo'icn rooms were also decorated with standards of pink snapdragons and silvered leaves The serving tables were covered with white organdy over pink, silver cand.esticks held pink tapers and TTangements 0f pink tea roses completed the decor. Mrs Richf.rd Stratton, daugh ter of the oridegroom, cut the wedding cake. Mrs. Donald A. Faber, his daughter-in-law, and Mrs. Jessie Minear poured. Mrs. Walter Den Beste, Portland, took charge of the guest book. The bride, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam L. Wilder, Phoenix, Ariz., has been employed by the Methodist Dublishing house as store supervisor. Mr. Faber, a son of Mrs. E. C. Faber, Central Point, is vice-president of Sta tion KBES-TV and widely known in sojthern Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Faber traveled to San Franiisco for their wed ding trip, and will live on Free man road near Central Point. . ft Mrs. Douglas Johnson (Landis-Shangl photo) Parents Announce Johnson-Oakes Marriage News Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Oakes, 37 North Peach street, announce the marriage of their daughter, Mar gie Ellen, to Douglas Mitchell Johnson, son of Mrs. Jeanette Johnson, Shady Cove, and the late Micah Johnson. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Gareth Hughes March 4 at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon at Reno, Nev. The bride wore a white knit suit with white and navy blue accessories. Following the cere mony the couple traveled to San Francisco and Carmel, Calif. Mr. Johnson is stationed at Ft. Ord, Calif., with the United States Army and Mrs. Johnson is employed in Medford by Pa cific Telephone and Telegraph company. Alternate Chosen For Scholarship Salem Miss Sue Donna Dool en, senior at Medford High school, has been named altern ate for the Mary L. Collins com petitive scholarship, 10 of which are awarded annually by Wil lamette university. Alternates for this scholarship are awarded freshmen honor scholarships to Willamette. Winners of t the sophomore Girl's league award. Miss Doolen was a nominee for the .Daugh ters 'of the American Revolution award. She is a member of Torch Honor society and presi dent of Methodist Youth fellow ship. Miss Doolen is a daughter of Mrs Horace Doolen. 612 West Seconcfr street, Medford, ' i .a' Mr. and Mrs. Richard L Purdy Couples Return From Trips South . . t nn me return or warmer weather to the Rogue valley, travelers who speat the winter months in the south have re turned home. Mr. and Mrs. Donald S. Clark, 401 Road, returned home last week after spending the past six months in the east and south. The Clarks first visited their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Martin Jr., in Bronxville, New York, and then continued to Winter Park, Fla., where they spent three months. Mr. Clark's brother, Marshall Clark, makes his home in Win ter Park. The return trip was by the southern route and up the coast, with a brief stop in San Fran cisco. . Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thorn-dike- have returned to their home on South Berkeley way after spending several weeks in Mexico. They were joined in Acapulco by Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Phipps and Mr. and Mrs. Steph en G. Nye, and the three couples also were in Mexico City. The Thorndikes made the trip by car and stopped in Los Ange les and Phoenix, Ariz., en route home. Couple Here Eagle Point Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Black, Portland, are spending the week end in Med ford as guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Ousterhout, Dutton road. (m4 CHOOSE lf Miss Kay Dunford Honored at Party; Wedding Saturday Eagle Point Miss Kay Dun ford was honored at a bridal shower given the evening of March 18th at the home of Mrs. Edward Chamberlain. Co-hostess was Trs. Fred Farlow who was assisted by Mrs. Carl Christian and Miss Lena Tibbits. Spring Flowers decorated the rooms for the event, attended by about 50 friends. Entertainment numbers were given by Miss Georgia Weidman, who played a piano medley fol lowed by the song "Because." "Cinco Robles" was sung as a duet by Miss Margaret Cearley and Miss Barbara Henderson. After the entertainment, gifts were opened by Miss Dunford. Refreshments in the St. Patrick's day theme' were served in buf fet style. Miss Dunford and John Sinsel are to be married the evening of March 30 in the Eagle Point Community Bible church. Returns .Mrs. R. B. Abel has returned to Medford after visiting rela tives in the Midwest. During her ZVi month vacation Mrs. Abel visited her daughter, Mrs. Carlos Lezama in Wilmette, 111., and other relatives in Indian apolis. Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb of ficiated at the double-r i n g ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and "Mrs. Roy Walters of Medford. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdy of Central Point. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin sheath dress with net over skirt and shoulder length veil. She carried a nosegay of white roses. Miss Sharon Day, the maid-of-honor, wore a pink sheath dress and carried a nosegay of pink and white carnations. The brides maid Miss Jeanctte Purdy, and Miss Barbra Walters, sisters of the bride and bridegroom, wore lavender sheath dresses and car ried nosegays of white carna tions and purple violets. Richard Myrick was best man for the bridegroom. The ushers were Donald Purdy, cousin of the bridegroom and Jess Little field. Caesar Muzzioli, music teacher of the bride, furnished accordion music for the ceremony. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the Masonic hall in Central Point. After a . short honeymoon in California the couple will make their home north of Central I Point. ! Out of town guests who at tended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lee and family from Arcadia, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Coffman, Fort Bragg, Calif., and Donald. Ebbe, also from Arcadia. 1 Brainerds Return From California Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Brainerd and two children, Paul and Sherry, have returned to their home on Valley View drive after a vacation in southern Califor nia. They were accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Christiansen. The group stopped in San Francisco en route south and in Los Angeles visited movie studio sets to watch the filming of a picture, and saw a television broadcast of a Tennessee Ernie Williams show. Later they regis tered at the Disneyland hotel and spent two days in Disney land. The family then continued to Santa Barbara where they spent a few days at the Hotel Mira mar.
