Newspaper Page Texto TWO MEDrORP (QHZGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Couple Married In Home S9rvice Miss Sylvia Beatrice Barilla, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Barilla of Welland, Ontario, Can ada, and Gayle Donald Christ lieb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Christlieb, 315 North Holly street, were married at the home of the bridegroom's parents Sat urday, March 2. Mrs. Nelle Burns of Ashland performed the ceremony. The bride wore a light blue tweed suit with white orchid coiee. Her attendant, Mrs. Wayrft W. Christlieb, wore a print dress of black, yellow and green with white accessories and a white carnation corsage. Wayne W. Christlieb was best man for his brother. The newlyweds made a honey moon trip to San Francisco and will live at 315 North Holly street here until the end of the school year at Southern Oregon college, where the bridegroom is a student. The bride attended school in Canada and has been employed in Santa Mpnica, Calif., for Se past . veral months. Gossard of Caldwell, Idaho, who were here for the wedding. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cobleigh, Phoenix. The bride wore a gown of chantilly lace over satin with groom. She carried a bouquet of red roses encircling a white or chid. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Avadna Peterson was maid of honor and Mrs. Norman Winters was bridesmatron. Junior bridesmaids were Judy and Joyce Roberts, nieces of the bride. Miss Peterson and Mrs. Winters wore blue velvet sheaths with net overskirts and carried pink carnations. The Misses Rob erts wore pink taffeta frocks and carried white carnations. Flower girls were Phyllis and Shirley Roberts, also nieces of the bride. They wore dresses of blue taffe ta and carried pink carnations in baskets. Gary and Lary Smith lighted the candles. Herbert Nelson Served as best man while Gaylord Cox, Ralph Coggins, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Norman Win ters of Springfield, Ore., seated the guests. Mrs. Orrln Ogier played the traditional organ wedding music and accompanied Deane Roberts, brother-in-law of the bride, who sang. Bouquets of spring flowers and candelabra holding tapers decorated the church. Following the ceremony a re ception was held In the church parlors. Yellow roses decorated the tiered wedding cake which was cut and served by Mrs. Ralph Coggins, sister of the bridegroom. Mrs. Deane Roberts presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. Alvin Roberts, sister of the bride, poured the coffee. Miss Velma Brock was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. A. V. Lang ston was in charge of the recep tion. The bride chose a blue suit with pink blouse and pink and black accessories for her travel ing attire. After a wedding trip to California the newlyweds will make their home at Route 1. Box 208-1, Grant road. Central Point. The bride attended George Fox college and is employed by the California - Oregon Power company. Lady Lions Will Honor Officers State officers of the Lady Lions will be honored at a ban quet Thursday, March 21, at the Tally-Ho in Talent, by members of the Lady Lions in southern Oregon. Chairman for the dinner is the Phoenix auxiliary with other committees: Medford, en tertainment: Medford - Crater, toastmistress: Central Point, prize and place cards; and Tal ent, table decorations. At the March meeting of the Medford Lady Lions plans were started for the State Lions con vention that will be held in Med ford during June. Co-chairmen for Lady Lions portion of the program are Mrs. Lee Mellish and Mrs. Kenneth Campbell. Committees to assist the chair men will be announced later. At the meeting the Hedrick Junior High school ninth grade girls' sextette sang accompanied by Miss Karen Carpenter. The next meeting of the group will be held the second week of the month due to the Spring Board meeting April 2 in Salem Guests at the meeting from the Crater Lady Lions club were Mrs. Warren Brenner and Mrs. Dan Dwyer. Mrs. Herbert Seitz, membership chairman, introduc ed Mrs. Earl Nelson, Mrs. James Dziarmaga, Mrs. James Bayliss. Mrs. Clyde Webb as guests. Phoenix Lady Lions will meet Thursday, March 14. at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Warren Hag gard, Phoenix. Mrs. A. H. Cons- bruck will assist Mrs. Haggard. At the last meeting it was re ported that SI 12.56 had been contributed to the March of Dim es by the Phoenix group by spon soring a dance and the Mother's March. Crater Lions auxiliary at their last meeting made final plans for a smorgasbord to be held Friday, March 15, at the First Metho dist church dining hall. The meal, to feature Lenten dishes, will be served from 5 to 9 p.m. Proceeds from the dinner will go towards welfare projects of the "roup. Chairmen for the din ner are Mrs. John Lusk. Mrs. Jack Ingram and Mrs. Murray Dumas. Reservations may be made by calling Mrs. Dumas at 2-6984. At the meeting the auxiliary voted to send a contribution to Oregon School for the Blind. Mc Corkle, Eagle Point sophomore at Oregon State college, has been elected treasurer of Phra teres, international social organ ization for independent women. Phrateres promotes, friendli ness at OSC and encourages off campus women to participate in campus activities. They also as sist with Mothers weekend and freshman orientation. Miss McCorkle is majoring in business and technology at OSC. A 1955 graduate of Eagle point high school, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight W. Mc Corkle of L.B. Star Rt. Box 45, Eagle Point. Here Mr. and Mrs. Aimer Rydeea of Seattle, Wash., left Saturday morning after a brief stop in Medford. The Rydeens were guests Friday night of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kelly, the two couples having been friends since the time both lived in Alaska. The Rydeens were en route to San Mateo, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Taylor Jr. (Landis-Shangl Photo) Taylor-Sontm IV adding Rites Held in Zion Lutheran Church Pythian Sisters Plan Spring Party Members of Talisman temple of the Pythian Sisters will hold a spring smorgasbord and card party at the Knights of Pythias building Thursday afternoon, March 21. It is planned to make the party an annual event. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. with table favors for each guest. Bridge, pinochle and canasta will follow luncheon. According to the general chair man, Mrs. Renne Grosh, all pro ceeds will be used for Pythian projects for the coming year. Medford Woman Nominated For Congress Office Mrs. Leigh Gustison of Med ford has been recommended by the nominating committee of Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers for the position of first vice-president, to serve for the period of 1957-59. Mrs. Gustison served as jun ior vice-president of Region V for the past year, and previously as recording secretary, pro cedure and by-laws chairman, and OCPT representative on the state advisory board of Oregon Technical Institute. In addition Mrs. Gustison has served as president and treasurer of Med ford Council of Parent-Teacher associations, and as Medford Jun ior High PTA pjresident. Other nominations to be sub mitted to the OCPT convention to be held in Pendleton April 9, 10 and 11 are president, Mrs. Russell Case, Portland, now first vice-president and formerly jun ior vice-president of Region II; recording secretary, Mrs. J. Car lyle Ross, Poftland, now publi city chairman for the Oregon Congress; junior vice-president of Region II, Mrs. Bruce Watt, Portland, now serving in that position after having been elect ed by the executive committee to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. S. W. Meserve, Portland; junior vice-president Region VII, Mrs. Carlos Easley, La Grande, who has been chairman of pre school and elementary service: and for junior vice president Region VIII, Mrs. John Elfering, Vale, who is at present county council president for Malheur county. Zion Lutheran church was the setting Sunday, March 3, for the wedding of Miss Elaine Belva Sorum and Cleo Taylor Jr. The Rev. G. H. Hillerman officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Sorum, 1309 Thomas road, Medford. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs Cleo Taylor of Jacksonville. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress of white satin and chantilly lace, which she designed and made. It was fashioned with fit ted bodice of lace and full skirt with lace panels. A crown held her fingertip length veil and on her white satin shoes were the silver buckles that her grand mother had worn at her wed ding. She carried a cascade bou quet of orchids and stephanotis. Mrs. Jim Kelley, matron of honor, wore an afternoon length frock of .emerald green crystal line. Mrs. Douglas Clark and Miss Esther Smith were the other attendants. Their frocks were of nile green crystalline. AH three attetndants wore pearl necklaces, gifts from the bride, and carried bouquts of carnations Dana Sorum, young brother of the bride, was ring bearer, and little Patti Clark was flower girl. Pome Roy Sorum, brother of the bride, served as best man. Jerry Pawlowski seated the guests. Larry Sorum, brother of the bride and Gary Bendickson were candlelighters. The church was decorated with baskets of white carnations and stock and lighted candles. The traditional organ wedding music was played by Timothy Hillerman who also accompanied Miss Marilyn Myhre who sang. Following the wedding a re ception was held in the church parlors. Mrs: Norris Wallace cul and served the wedding cake that was decorated by Mrs. Hans Edwardsen. Mrs. Guy Erickson poured the coffee while Mrs. Al Griffin poured the tea and Mrs. William Aulick presided at the punch bowl. Krumcaker and spirits were also served acord ing to the Scandinavian custom. Miss Judy Edwardsen was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Kenneth Edwards and Misses Sonja and Jean Smith were at the gift table. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Sorum chose a turquoise suit with while and black acces sories and white carnation cor sage. Mrs. Taylor wore a blue suit with pink accessories and pink carnation corsage. For her traveling attire the bride wore a velveteen blue suit with black and white ac cessories and the orchids from her bridal bouquet. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school. She has been employed by Myron Root and company for the past five ; years. The bridegroom attended j Jacksonville schools and is now serving with the United States Army at Hannaford, , Wash., where the couple will make their home. Society Initiates Miss Ann Padgham Davis, Calif Miss Ann Pad gham of Medford was among five coeds who were initiated last week into the Prytanean society on the University of California campus at Davis. Miss ' Padgham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Padgham, 2707 Springbrook road, Medford, is a junior majoring in English in the College of Letters and Science. She is a 1952 graduate of Medford Senior High school.
