Mr. and Mrs. Foley left Fri day for San Francisco with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Tegnell, for a vacation. Chairman Miss Florence Stacey, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. 'Couple Returns From California; Son Visits Here Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wolf have returned to their home on West fourth itreet after a trip to California. They were accom panied south by their son, Rog ar, who had been here for a short viait. Sojer Welf, a pianist well known in the valley, is now playing in the main dining room of Amon Carter Interna tional airport located between Fort Worth and Dallas, Tex., and is living in Dallas. After three days together in San Francisco, the young man returned to Texas and his parents continued to Salinas, Calif., where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Weir. The Weirs former ly lived in Medford. Sorority to Hold Luncheon at Club Kappa Kappa Gamma Soror ity plans a luncheon Saturday, March 9, at Rogue Valley Coun try club at one ojclock for mem bers on the Rogue valley. February 22. at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Louie Gerrue. 1010 Court street, Medford. Bishop D. E. Nelson of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints officiated at the 7:30 o'clock evening wed ding attended by 50 relatives and friends. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lusk, 10 Portland avenue, Medford. . The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white lace sheath dress with white orchid corsage. Mrs. Milton Morrison, Ashland attended the bride wearing a light blue dress with white rosebud corsage. Don Hartley served as best man. Tollowing the ceremony a re ception was held. Mrs. Don Hart ley cut and served the cake while Mrs. Len Mannings served the punch and Mrs. Erma Ger rue poured the coffee. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Gerrue chose a blue dress. Mrs. Lusk wore a black taffeta dress. They both had pink carna tion corsages. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and is a bookkeeper at the United States National Bank, Medford branch. The bridegroom attended Med ford High school and is now a student at Southern Oregon college. Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Phipps re turned to their home on Crater Lake highway Friday after an absence of several weeks. The couple left Medford in early De cember and spent the holidays in Phoenix, Ariz., with their son-in-law and daughter. They then continued to Mexico where they met Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thorn dike of Medford at Acapulco. After two weeks at that resort, the travelers continued to Mexi co City for a week and then mo tored north, stopping in various interesting places. The Phipps stopped in Ari zona before returing to Oregon. Mrs. Phipps, president of Girl's Community club, visited a num ber of women's clubs in Arizona and California in order to gath er information about their oper ation. The Medford club is con structing a new clubhouse. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Collins, 2224 East Main street, have re turned from a three weeks vaca tion in Baja, California. The Col lins, who drove to Tijuana, Mexi co, flew from there to La Paz where they stayel at the Guycura hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Baker, Coker Butte road, and Mr. and Mn. Brandt Bartels made a motor trip through Cali fornia following a meeting in San Francisco. They made brief stops in Palm Springs, Palm Des ert and other resorts. ! Dinner Observes 82nd Birthday Several friends of Mrs. Emma I Perkins, 243 North Holly street, ; helped her celebrate her 82nd birthday Thursday afternoon at : her home. A dinner was served. Grand Guardian To Visit Bethel Shady Cove Mrs. Thelma Schilds of Portland, grand guardian of Job's Daughters fn Oregon, will be the honored guest at the next meeting of f Bethel 56, Shady Cove, to be held Thursday. March 7 at the VFW hall at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Schilds will conduct an inspection of the bethel and ini : tiation will be held. Formal dress will be required for the meeting. The next meeting will be held March 22 at the home of Mrs. Frank Root, 323 Chestnut avenue. Mrs. Helen Baugh Founder Of Council To Be Here Mrs. Helen D. Baugh, founder and national chairman of the Christian Business and Profes sional Women's Councils, and national vice chairman of the Christian Women's Clubs of America, will be speaker at the monthly dinner meeting of the Medford council to be held Mon day, March 4, at 6 p.m. in the Pioneer room. Hotel Jackson. The Christian Business and Professional Women's councils were established some 17 years ago on the west coast. Today there are local chapters in lead ing cities from Bangor, Maine, to San Diego, Calif. Some 10 years ago. Miss Mary E. Clark, the national chairman of Chris tian Women's clubs, became af filiated with Mrs. Baugh, and local groups, also, have been es tablished across the country. Headquarters for these organi zations is located in Kansas City, Mo., from which Mrs. Baugh travels to the more than loO councils and clubs established in leading cities across America. In addition to the monthly dinner and luncheon meetings at which she speaks,- Mrs. Baugh is also the featured speaker at many week end and week-long confer ences held by these organiza tions throughout the year, as well as speaking at oUter convocations. The Christian Business and Professional Women's council holds a monthly dinner meeting in these various cities to which all business and professional women are invited. There are no dues and no membership. The best in Christian music, surprise features such as fashion shows, candle making, flower arrange ments and jewelry displays, and an inspirational speaker com bine to make an outstanding pro gram each month, it is said. The present chairman ot tne local council is Mrs. Eloise Win-klebleck. 4 Zuleima Temple To Hold Election Election of officers " for the coming year and voting on a change of temple by-laws will be the principal business when Zuleima temple. Daughters of the Nile holds its stated meet ing Saturday, March 9, at Grants Pass Masonic temple. Mrs. H. S. Bullock, Grants Pass, is queen elect of the order. Mrs. George Bryant, retiring queen, will con duct the meeting which is sched uled for 1 p.m. Details of the installation cere monies to be held in Grants Pass Saturday, March 30, are to be announced later. New officers will conduct their first stated meeting in Med ford on April 13. Tea will be served following next Saturday's meeting, with Grants Pass members in charge. McDonald Home Scene of Party Eagle Point Mrs. Robert McDonald was honored at a shower given by the Nicholas Branch Get Together club, March 1 at the home of Mrs. A. R. McDonald. The room decorations were of pink and blue streamers, and a stork flanked by pink and blue tapers was the centerpiece for the serving table. Mrs. Emery Cunningham assisted with dec orations and made the flowers, nut cups, and pink divinity. Club members furnished the cakes. Games were played by the 32 guests with prizes going to Mrs. Gertrude Stanley and Mrs. Ker mit Carroll. Tea Held Sunday For Bride-Elect; Wedding Day Set Miss Alpha Clinkinbeard, bride-elect of Robert L. Butler, was honored at a tea given last Sunday afternoon. February 24, at the home of lr. and Mrs. Ernest P. Leavitt, Old Stage road. Hosts for the event were the Leavitts, Mrs. F. Wilson Wait and Mr. and Mrs. Moore Hamilton. Miss Clinkinbeard, on the faculty at Washington school, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl S. Clinkinbeard of Coos Bay, Ore. During the tea Mr. Butler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnel P. Butler of Medford, introduced Miss Clinkinbeard to family friends. Pouring were Mrs. Fletcher Fish, Mrs. W. E. Holmes. Mrs. Robert W. Sage, Miss Muriel Acheson, Mrs. Austin Brownell, Grants Pass, and Mrs. C. Claude Thompson, Central Point. Mrs. Brownell. and Mrs. Thompson are aunts of the prospective bridegroom. Mrs. J. F. Fliegel assisted about "the rooms. The tea table was laid with a pale gold colored cloth and centered with an arrangement of daffodils, white carnations and acacia. About 100 guests called be tween three and six o'clock. The wedding has been set for March 24 in Coos Bay. Sojourners Plan Dinner and Show As March Event Medford Sojourner s' wel comed new and prospective members at a meeting February 28 at the Pythian hall. New members are Mrs. Leonard Pressley and Mrs. W. T. Clark. Prospective members introduced were Mrs. C. E. Henry, Mrs. Wil liam Traut, Mrs. E. E. Fields, and Mrs. Preston Hobbs. Guest from Moberly, Mo., was Mrs. J. W. Whitaker. Flans were made for enter taining husbands and guests with a buffet dinner and style show Friday evening, March 29, at the Jackson hotel. Further an nouncements will be made at the next meeting. Mrs. w. ii. Johnson was unanimousy elected treasurer following the resignation of Mrs. H. W. Sturgeon, who is planning out of state travel. Appointed hospitality chair man for the month of March is Mrs. Jerry Tobin. Mrs. Gene F. Chamberlain, president, asked that all mem bers bring wire coat hangers to the next meeting. They should be straight, hooks faced in the same direction and bundled in groups of 25. A special award will be presented to the woman bringing the most hangers. Hostesses were Mrs. Henry Robertson, Mrs. Ruby Wright, and Mrs. Carrie Walters. The table was decorated with a spring bouquet of daffodils. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Vmcent Nicoletti and Mrs. Berg Marten, pinochle by Mrs. Fred Baggenstos, and Mrs. Lewis Smith,, and canasta prizes by Mrs. A. L. McClure and Mrs. Walters. A special award went to Mrs. Lewis Smith. Sojourners is an organization devoted to the interests of new comers to the city and any wom an who has lived here two years or less is eligible for member ship. The next meeting will be Thursday, March 14, in the Pyth ian hall at 12:30 p.m. A nominating committee was appointed at the last meeting of the Scottish Rites Women's club held Monday evening. On the committee are Mrs. Marshall Day, chairman, and Mrs. Herbert Alford, and Mrs. Charles Hop pee. - The next meeting will be held March 11. Lytle, president of the council, and Miss Mary Aldrich, scout ex ecutive, guests at the luncheon. Mrs. Stevenson stated that the money would be used to purch ase permanent equipment for the camp. Registration for camp will ooen May 1, Mrs. Stevenson said, and camp will open July 1. One 7-day and three 10-day sessions are planned this sum mer. It is planned to hold open house at the camp June 30, and Mrs. Stevenson urged Kiwanian D3mes and anyone interested to visit Camp Low Echo at that time. In the early days of Girl Scout established camp less than 100 girls would attend during a sea son, Mrs. Stevenson said, while last year more than 500 were reeistered. The camp is operated under standards set by the American r.amDina association, the chair man declared, with one adult on the staff for each eight girls registered. The speaker observ ed that in me DeEinruuK camping for Girls Scouts of this area, conditions were rather pri mitive and the organizations had labored hard to provide build ings and equipment. Now the girls are clamoring for "back to the woods" camping and a new "Pioneer" unit will be establish ed this year for eighth and ninth grade girls. Mrs. William Ruffner and Mrs. Robert Messellbeck were chairman of this year's doll pro ject from which a large part of the S550 was derived. The re mainder of the money was rais ed by a luncheon and show last spring. This year's project was in memory of Mrs. Everett Fa ber who was one of Kiwanian Dames most active members be fore her death. During luncheon Dr. Abner O. Clark, president of. Medford Ki anians club, was introduced and thanked the ' women for their cooperation in staging the an nual Kiwanis Kapers.
