O Strange Disappearance of Oregon Flier Subject of Magazine Story Nev York (U.R) Life mag azine laid yestercy it appeared that missing Columbia Univer sity instructor Jesus Maria de Galindez may have been spirited to the Dominican Republic last March by a young American pilot who was slain there in ; December. 1 The magazine linked the dis appearance of the instructor to the reported murder of Gerald Lester Murphy, 23, Eugene, j Ore. "I am impressed with the doc umentation in Life magazine," Porter said, "and appreciate the efforts they are making in the case. I feel their report ias blown the Galindez case wide open and points the finger at the murder involving the Dominican Republic which is run by the ruthlea dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo." Sen. Philip Lowry of Med ford warned his fellow solons today that his eight-year-old son John had come down with the mumps. And inas much as young John has been around to the desk of every senator for several days, col lecting stamps for a school contest, the upper house law makers were put on the alert. Senators knitted their eye brows as they tried to recall whether or not they had ever had the mumps. And those who had not or weren't quite sure, were thinking of get ting shots against the disease by the legislative physician. Or. Ralph E. Purvine. UN Trouble Shooter Heads for Suez Zone United Nations, N. Y (U.R) Secretary General Dag Ham- marskjold sent a top trouble shooter yesterday to Egypt where the U.N. salvage fleet clearing the Suez Canal has run into Egyptian delays. Col. Alfred G. Katzin, a deputy undersecretary, was to leave New York today to consult Lt. Gen. Raymond A. Wheeler (U.S.A.-Ret.), chief of the clear ance operation. U. N. spokesmen carefully avoided any hint that Katzin was going because Hammars- kjold was concerned about re ports that Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser is hamper ing completion of the clearance until all Israeli troops leave Egypt.
