Standley, 40, son of Mrs. Ethel Standley of Ashland, suffered a fatal heart attack Jan. 28, while driving his pick up truck on Highway 101 four miles south of Orick, Calif. The pickup truck swerved across the highway and collided with a dump truck and overturned. He was born in Medford March 7, 1916. and attended school in Gold Hill and Central Point. Later he moved to Tilla mook, and for the past seven years the family has lived in Trinidad, Calif. He is survived -by his wife. Freda: one daughter, Christi Sue Standley; four sons, Jack Max Standley, Glennie and Richard Walker, all at home, and Ed ward Walker, stationed with the Army in Germany; his mother; two brothers, Everett Standley, Portland, and Ellis Standley, West Linn; three sisters. Mrs. Leonard Simmons, Gold Beach. Mrs. H. W. Hubler, Medford. and Mrs. Elsie Garrett, Ashland. Funeral services ' were held last Saturday at Tillamook, and vault interment was in Sunset Heights Memorial garden there. MRS. EMMA JANE ALLISON Mrs. Emma Jane Allison; 90, former Medford resident, died in a Redding, Calif., hospital Jan. 26. In addition to living in Med ford several years, Mrs. Allison visited her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Al lison, 1027 West 10th., during the winter. Mrs. Allison was born in Wis consin Sept. 16, 1866. When she was 16, the family moved to Blodgett valley, now known as Missouri Flats. The family mov ed to Nebraska the following year, and she was married to Frank Edward Allison. He died in 1896. After living in Nebraska, Mis souri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and South Dakota, she moved with her son, Ben, and family to Project City, 'Calif., where she made her home with another Fon, William, until his death in 1949. Survivors include two sons, Ben F. Allison, Medford, and Frank Edward Allison, Doniph an, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. Saraha Martin, DeSmet, Idaho; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wil liam Allison, Project City Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Yerglin, Mission, S.D., and Mrs. Julia Roberts, Appleton City, Mo:; 29 grandchildren, 55 great grand children, and seven great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 in Redding, Calif., and interment was in Lawncrest cemetery there. Those attending the funeral from Medford included Mr. and Mrs. Ben Allison, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Johnson and children, Rita and Royal, Mr. and Mrs. E. i. Taylor and son, Robert, and Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Taylor, and Arthur Martin. MRS. LILY BURNELL Ashland Funeral services are still pending at Litwiller's Funeral home in Ashland for Mrs. Lily Bell Burnell, 62, of 104 South Third St., Jackson ville, who died last Friday. Services are pending arrival of a surviving son stationed with the armed services in Japan. PIERCE H. WILSON Ashland Pierce H. Wilson, 82, died at his Talent residence Tuesday. He had been in failing health. Mr. Wilson was born May 20, 1874, in Malheur county, a younger son of Dr. Joseph C. and Mrs. E. Wilson, who crossed the plains prior to the gold rush in 1849. The family moved to near Talent from eastern Ore i gon in 1892. i He taught music at Oregon , Normal school (now Southern l Oregon college), and played in I the Ashland city band about the turn of the century. He was em ployed by the Southern Pacific railroad for a while. Although Mr. Wilson never married, he adopted a nine-year-I old girl, Mary Milligan, who j became a missionary ih Indo- China. She died there of a trop j ical fever. I Mr. Wilson lost his eyesight : in a blasting accident several I years ago. He was a member of the First ! Methodist church. 1 Survivors include a niece, j Mrs. Dorothy Green, and chil- I dren, of Talent. Funeral services wijl be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Litwil ler's Mt. View chapel. The Rev. Ross Knotts will officiate. Interment will be in the family . plot -in the Hargadine cemetery in Ashland. ENLISTS Dee Wayne Dowing Jr., son of Dee Downing, Applegate, en listed in the Marine corps re cently, according to the local recruiting office. Downing will receive basic training at San Diego, Calif. Prior to enlisting, he attended high school in Sara toga, Calif. VISIT ON LEAVE Marvin C. Harkey and LeRoy H. Railroad issues led the down turn and their average set a new low since March 21, 1955. Utilities alone of the major groups managed to hold a gain, aided by a substantial re covery in Peoples Gas. Steels felt the pinch of the late sell-off. Youngstown lost moret han a point. U.S. Steel slipped a. point and others in this group were off fractionally. Aircrafts. chemicals, metals, motors and miscellaneous is sues all were knocked down from their highs.
