Communist Magazine Warns Dictatorship Moscow ttl.Ri The Com munist party central committee magazine Party Life warned to day the "dictatorship of the pro letariat must be firm and mer ciless with anti-Soviet elements" which it admitted were at work In the Soviet Unien. Party Life said there are "remnants of anti-Soviet ele ments in our country" who "at tempt to exploit for their abom inable purposes our difficulties and shortcomings, raise malici ous slanders against policies of the party and state and are spreading all kinds of provac tory rumors." Two Contributions Made by Members Of Phoenix HEC Phoenix Year boots were distributed at a meeting of Phoe nix Home Economics club held January 16 at the home of Mrs George Hartley, South Pacific highway. Luncheon was served, with Mrs. Loyal Bates and Mrs. Vaughn Quackenbush as co-hostesses. Roll was answered with New Year resolutions. Members voted to contribute to the Spence memorial scholar ship fund, and to a fund to send sewing machines to Korea. The club will continue to sew and mend at Camp White once a month, and anyone wishing to help with this project is askrd to contact Mrs. Sylvia Bates. The Grange chaplain has ask ed that members who have not yet donated home canned fruit, jam or vegetables for the family which was recently "burned out" to take these articles to the Grange meeting Tuesday, Janu ary 22. Eighteen members attended the meeting, and Mrs. Robert Carr was a visitor. Installed were Gary Brown, captain; Daymon Barnard, first lieutenant; Becky Gates, sec retary; Lynda Knips, treasurer: Marlys Brown, historian; Nancy Wilson and Linda Robertson, sergeant-at-arms. Miss Beverly Nelson was ap pointed advisor of .the group by the Ladies' Mounted Troop, re placing Mrs. O. D. Martin. Mrs Iris Dodge will continue as drill master Dancing and games followed the installation, and refresh ments were served. The next meeting of the group will be held February 7. The new captain will appoint com mittees at that time. Officer Talks On Defensive Driving For HedricK PTA Sgt. Clyde Fichtner was guest speaker for a meeting of Hedrick Parent-Teacher association Janu ary 14. The subject of his talk was driving safety, and he stressed the need for "defensive driving," or planning ahead for traffic dangers. A question and answer period followed his talk. The program opened with two numbers by the ninth grade girls' sextette, composed of Carol Slater, Joy Olson, Diane Tomlin; Karen- Morlan, Karalee Selby, and Kay Lee Ruhl. They were accompanied by Karen Carpenter. The Hive, a newly organized service group of students, was introduced and their functions explained by John Lacy, sergeant-at-arms.
