Keeping track of my weight,
I step on the scales twice a day.
During the hoiday season I con-!
sumed some of the ever present j
holiday candy. It is remarkable
how a little candy can add much
to your weight. Baked potatoes, 1
however, are not fattening as j
generally believed. It is the but-j
ter people put on potatoes that
increases the weight. Duck is ,
more fattening than chicken. !
Bread plus butter will fatten you
up fast. I have it only for break
fast. Soup can make you plump.
I like it but only have clam
chowder on Friday. However,
the major factor in keeping
weight down is not have seconds.
titled ''Body and Soul." It was :
in "Three's A Crowd," produced
in 1930. In the cast of that show, j
in addition to Libby, were Fred ,
Allen, Portland Hoffa, Fred i
Mat-Murray. Alan Jones and j
Clifton Webb.
Pleas Not
Japan has the highest per-
centage of spectacle wearers in
the world. Reason is that the
average Japanese goes nearly
blind learning to read. A Japa
nese must know 5.000 different
characters before he can read
a newspaper. Nevertheless. 95

Asking
Queries from clients. Q. How
many children has Charles Chap
lin? A. Seven. He became a fath
er for the first time at age of 36.
Been married four times. Mar
riages with Mildred Harris and
Paulette Goddard were childless.
Union with Lita Grey resulted
In two offspring. Present mar
riage with former Oona O'Neil
produced five children. Another
is expected shortly. Chaplin is
67 years old. Q. What is the ex
tent of your present indulgence
in tobacco and alcoholic liquors?
A. 1 don't mind your asking me
that question, sir, but I don t
like the way you word it. Any
way, I smoke about six cigars a
day and several tobacco ciga
rettes. 1 have one highball be
fore dinner, a double.

How is your novel or play
coming along? Have you a good
title for it? Give that angle
much consideration? Is very im
portant. Margaret Mitchell firt
titled a novel "Tomorrow is
Another Day." Then after think
ing it over changed the title to
"Gone With The Wind." Thack
eray titled a novel "Pencil
Sketches of English Society."
Then changed it to "Vanity
Fair." Whistler titled a clever
piece of work "The Correspond
ence of James McNeil Whistler"
and change it to "The Gentle Art
of Making Enemies." Philip
Gibbs called a book "What the
Censor Forbade." On second
thought he came up with a ter
rific title, namely: "Now It Can
Be Told."
Sidelights
The World's best looking
blondes are those of Northern
Italy around Milan. The best
looking brunettes are to be
found in Seville, Spain . . . Am
asked in what show Libby Hol
man introduced the torch song
Among The Married
There are twice as many na-
tural red-haired women as there j
are red-haired men. That is a (
situation that is to be regretted, j
There should be at least one red
haired man for every red-haired i
woman, because red-haired mar
ried couples are practically al
ways very happy.
Get It Right
Some people eem confused
regarding the reason a U. S.
soldier is awarded the decora
tion of the Purple Heart. Get it
right. According to U. S. Army
regulations, the Purple Heart is
awarded to all men who suffer
from "a wound which necessi
tates treatment by a medical
officer and which is received in
action with an enemy of the
United States."
Fish
The Mackerel Is the most nu
tritious of all fish. After that
the Herring. So claims a diet ex
pert. Perhaps he is right. How
ever, when I eat fish I am still
going to stick to Mountain Trout.
Boston Scrod and Codfish cakes.
