Bill is principal of the grade schools in Yoncalla. Ronnie Stockstill of Shady Cove is planning to leave for California soon where he will enroll in college. A number of members of the Shady Cove Garden club vis ited the decorated houses at Prospect during the Holiday House held there recently. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Kelley en tertained at their home with a Farewell Dinner in honor of their nephew and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Jantzer and daughters, Eloise and Shirley who are leaving to spend several months in Florida. The Kellcy's spent Christmas in Azalea. Ore., with their nephew and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jantzer. Other relatives from California, Mr. nd Mrs. John Jantzer and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jantzer and children from Areata, Calif., also spent Christmas with the Ben Jantzers at Azalea. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Kellcy plan to leave with their trailer next week for an extended trip throush southern California and will be gone the greater part of the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jantzer and sons, Michael and Monte have oved into their new home on the hill which they have been build ing next to the Jimmy Davis home. They moved in shortly be fore Christmas. The Shady Cove-Trail Lady Lions entertained the Lions club members at a smorgasborg din ner and Christmas party at the VFW hall. The Lions club mem bers surprised the Lady Lions by putting on a play, The Christ mas Carol. Guests present were Dr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson of Trail, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hopkins and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Nork of Shady Cove and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Humphreys of Reese creek. Steelhead Post No. 6881 VFW and Ladies Auxiliary will have a New Years eve party for mem bers and invited guests at the VFW hall. Fifty cents per per son will be charged. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Welch who wore' married a week ago in JJedford during his leave, are now at home in Long Beach, Calif. Mrs. Welch is the former Raedene Hicks of Shady Cove. Bill Poitevint, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Poitevint of Trail is home on furlough from the Navy. Mrs. Wendell Stalker of the Cove Drug store. Shady Cove, underwent major surgery at Sac red Heart hospital on Friday, Dec. 28. The Medford Public library again has a branch station lo cated at the Treasure Trove in Shady Cove. No charge is made for the books, the only require ment is that a library card must be obtained at the store before taking out books. There is a good selection of westerns, mysteries, fiction and non-fiction. Soedene Christian of Eagle Point spent Saturday visiting with Susie Chubb of Shady Cove. Earthquakes Rock East Coast of New Zealand Auckland. New Zealand (U.R A series of earthquakes rock ed New Zealand's East coast Sat urday. There was some property damage but no casualties. Chimneys crashed by the doz en and many windows were shattered in Gisborne, a com murrity of 20.000 persons. The center of the tremors was placed in the sea bed near White Island. 50 miles offshore in the ! Bay of Plenty. Mount Marcy, in New York's Adirondack mountains, is the ; highest peak in the state. The swank affair, which will cost an estimated S125.000. is Aline Mosby being given by Texas oilman David Feldman. Movie folk can't afford such en tertainment tabs these days. The theme of the party is Broadway's musical hit, "My Fair Lady," and blueprints for the event indicate it might out shadow what appears on the stage. Parties in this so-called uncultured land frequently are described as garish affairs; but this one is designed to bring elegance to social life under the palm trees. Celebrities Flown to Hollywood Many of the 260 guests were flown in from all parts of the world social, entertainment and business celebrities from Paris, London, New York, Chi cago and Texas. They all have to wear "My Fair Lady" cos tumes. Invited stars such as Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, David Niven and Gary Cooper will show up in fancy vests, ruffled shirts and white tie and tails. The ladies, including actresses Joan Crawford and Greer Gar son, have rented high-waistcd, narrow-skirted 1900 ball gowns with towering feathers and jewels for their hair.
