CLYDE KELL Guid Hill The week pre ceding Cnristmas was a busy one in this area, with most of the clubs holding their annual Yule-j tide parties at the regular De cember meetings. The first of these was the Am ethyst Rebekah Friendship club meeting Monday. Dee. 17. at the home of Mrs. Robert McDaniels. Nomination of ofiicers was held during the business meeting, with the president, Mrs. Paul Molloy. officiating. Those nominated were Mrs. Donald Morrow, president; Mrs. McDaniels. vice president; Mrs. Molloy. secretary; and Mrs. Charles Bell, treasurer. Secret pals were revealed, and gilts were exchanged. Tiie hostess presented each member attending a pastel or gandy apron which she had made. Mrs. McDaniel used the tra ditional holiday decorations for the occasion. The table center piece, where she served ti e re freshments, was made of red can dies and small reindeer, placed in a crystal bowl and flanked by silver tinted pine cones. Area Dairymen Elected To Oregon Council Portland Two M e d f o r d dairymen were elected to the state board of directors of the Oregon Dairy council at their 23rd annual meeiing recently in Portland. Elected were Victor Eirdseye, Medford dairyman, and a rep resentative from Snider's Dairy, Medford. Dr. William E. Bracker, Med ford dentist, was a speaker dur ing one of the council programs. Oreaon Phone 3-5306 The January meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Clar ence Parsley, Sardine Creek. The McDaniels moved into their new home two months ago. They had lived in Gold Hill for a number of years. The Past Noble Grands club, of Amethyst Rebekah lodge, held its annual Christmas party Tues day night. Dec. 18, at the home of Mrs. William Ferguson on Sec ond ave. Mrs. Walter McLean was co-hostess. Twenty-three members were present, including Mrs. Rena Palmcrton of Rogue River. The group sent Christmas cards to all absentee members and shut-in Rebekahs. The home was decorated with a lighted tree. On the mantel was a Santa in a sleigh drawn by reindeer, and arrangements of evergreens and holly. Mrs. J. Les Graffis. president, conducted the business session. It was reported that the club' project of building a new cup board for cups and saucers in the kitchen of the lodge hall had been carried out. The cupboard was built by George Hoff, a Re bekah member. The club voted to pay him for materials used for the cupboard. Christmas gifts were ex changed, with names of secret "Amethyst friends'' revealed. New names were drawn for the coming year. The hostesses served Christ mas cookies, fruit cake, tea and coffee. The next meeting was sched uled for Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Paul Thompson, with Mrs. William Hittle as co hostess. The choir of the Community Methodist church provided en tertainment by singing Christ mas carols at a meeting of Ame thyst Rebekah lodge Wednesday i night. Les Graifis. Mrs. Roy Esfcew. Miss Neida Robbins. Miss Rose Drake, Miss Grace Gail. Miss Terry Turner, Misses Helen and Susan Hood. The lodge meeting was con ducted by Mrs. Clarence Parsiey, noble grand. Mrs. Wilmer Bailey was elected vice grand. Members planned to raise money to help buy treats for tiie Odd Fellows Christmas party. The party was held Friday night at the lodge hall, Mrs. Parsley and Mrs. Ferd Jones were in charge of the children's program. At the close of the meeting, decorated Christmas cakes were served with coflee, by Mrs. Les ter Parker and Mrs. Paul Thomp son. Mrs. Roy Bornaman pre sented each member with a small "grab-bag"' gift. Next meeting of the lodge will be Wednesday, Jan. 2. The play, "Light in My Win dow," was presented over KBES TV Wednesday night Dec. 19, with the following children from the Handby school appearing in the cast: Connie Morris, Greg ory Applin, Kerry Koopman, Cheri Jerolamon, Reba Taylor, Jackie George and Donald Gail. A chorus of 31 students also appeared on the program. Mrs. Ida von Buskirk was as sisted by Mrs. Lois Stabler in directing the play. Mrs. Mar gurite Black was the choral di rector and Mrs. Gerturde Jacob son played the piano for the group. A group from the Community Methodist choir went caroling Dec. 19, Mrs. C. Norman Gail Highway 99 North, entertained them later in the evening at her home. Mrs. Paul Molloy and Mrs. Grace Bruce also attended the affair. ! The Gold Hill Garden club held its Christmas party at the j home of Mrs. Arthur Bove on ; Highway 99 North with Mrs. M. Schoenneman as cohostess. A dessert luncheon preceded a short routine business meeting, which was conducted by Mrs. George Smith, past president. The president, Mrs: William Fields was unable to attend the meeting, due to illness. , The club voted to send a dona tion to the Christmas Seal Sale. "Weedy friends" were reveal ed, and a gift exchange held. Mrs. Boye decorated the room with a tree, where the gifts were placed.
