Mrs. Ruth Schwartz, head de signer for one lingerie manufac turer (Beau Monde), said few women want black most of them prefer a vibrant shade of lingerie, as a change from the traditional pastels. Mrs. Schwartz gave these oth er color tips to the befuddled man at the lingerie counter. If she's dark, select the striking shades, or white. If red-haired, try white, mint, or clear blue. Beware oSr pink. Blondes look well in the pastels. And gray hair sparkles with bermuda blue, the violet shades and other tones not too "washed out" or pale. A final tip: buy glamour something better than she would normally buy herself but avoid extremes. Mrs. Schwartz said lingerie manufacturers long since have learned that the ex tremes usually are post-holiday returns.
