Mock-ups of fire hazards like ly to be found in the company's plant are constructed and ig nited. Then each of the 110 men in the firms volunteer fire bri gade is given an opportunity to put out the fire, using equip ment that would be available in the plant. The new program was the idea of Ray E. Winter, Inland s safety director and fire chief. He decided on the real thing be cause he didn't feel "paper work" instruction was adequate. The training in actual fire fighting is a follow-up to about six months of bi-weekly lectures and movies on techniques.
