And it has always been this way with intelligent people. In the past quarter cen tury, we have been more for tunate than the generations be fore us in finding books and pub lications touching our problems. "Problems of human repro tion," by Dr. Paul Popenoe, . di rector of the American Institute of Family Relations', outlines a program for marital happiness which is as applicable today as when it was written some twen ty years ago. Happiness in mar riage, according to Dn Popenoe, is definitely related to seven elements: 1. Age: Happy couples are found to be nearer in age to each Events Planned By Ladies' Troop Coming events of Ladies' Mounted troop include another of the series of square dances and potluck suppers being held Sunday nights, and a Christmas party. In other words, May and December may live happily together, .but statistically June and June have a better chance of success. . . 2. Education: Happy wives and husbands are in general better educated than the un happy partners. Their mental re sources occupy them, rather than petty domestic "sparring." 3. Health: Happy wives and their husbands are usually healthier than maladjusted couples. Happiness leaves little place for psychomatic ills and complaints, and healthy bodies make for a sense of complete well-being. 4. Preparation: Well-adjusted couples, received sex instruction before marriage. . Maladjusted partners often reveal a history of pre-marital "petting" or inter course. 5. Occupation: Happy wives, as a majority, work inside the home if there are small children. The ratio of working wives rises with the increasing age of the children. 6. Initiation: The happy mar riage begins with a well-adjusted marriage night, free from trau-' ma and tension probably on, account of previous instruction. ' How does your marriage rate against the above points? The j longer a marriage Is maladjust- : ed, the harder it is to undo its i Santa wll make a special ap pearance for the pleasure of the children. Members of all ridine groups in the valley-are invited to attend. Records will provide music for Sunday night's dancing, it is stated.
