Newspaper Page Text. SfX MEDFflRD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Meeting Series Scheduled By First Baptists The Rev. Bob Harlow of Global Aids Inc., Portland, will be guest speaker at the 7:45 p.m. service ot the First Baptist church on Surtday. At the morn ing Sunday school hour he will speak to several departments in a combined worship service and will also observe various phasps of the Sunday school while in I session. The Rev. Mr. Harlow is con ducting a series of educational evangelism meetings which give helps on the practical side of Christian ervice each Monday at J:30 p.m. at the local church. ' The following subjects will be emphasized in the four Monday night services of the series that remain: "How to Interest Your friends and Relatives in Church," "How to Win YourH Fricds and Relatives to Christ and the Church," and "How to Influence Your Home and Community for Christ and the Church." Filmstrips and motion pictures are used by Mr. Harlow to illustrate hie presentations. The meetings are open to the public The services of Global j: A ids have been used by churches of various dcnominatfons and are adaptable to the Christian educa tion and service of any church. Dedication Sunday At Eastwood Baptist j Dedication Sunday will be ob served g"jndy at the Eastwood Baptist church. North Keen Way drivf at Ridgeway, it will mark the beginning of the Every Mem fee r Enlistment program witaj a dedication of members who will cafl during the com ing weo to secure commitments for the chjjech's expanded pro grarng during the coming year. The proposed goal for the church represents more than a 60 per cent increase over the previous year. When this goal is met, the church will receive a loan for the completion of t&e present building and land-, scaping of the grounds. The pastor, the Rev. Richard M. Jones, will speak on Nov. 25 on the theme "Hilarious Givers." The Ciiaocel choir will sing. Christmas Brass Tacks, will be at 7:3fl p.m. with the theme of the evening discussion "What is Sin?" Union Service Overflow Crowd Thursday A crowd of more than 300 persons attended the Union Thanksgiving services Thursday morning at the First Christian church sponsored, by -the Med ford Ministerial association. Dr. B. Kirkland West of the First Presbyterian church warned of forgetting the true meaning of Thanksgiving by recalling the pilgrims and their first Thanks giving day 334 years ago. Texts for the sermon includ ed Mases' warning to the Israel ites "beware lest thou forget the Lord," and the Psalm of David, "bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his bene fits." Telephone Office: 2-24U - Residence: 2-5961 Head of Orient Crusades Scheduled to Speak in Area Dr. Dick Hillis, missionary i and general director of Orient Crusades, will speak Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Medford Assem bly of God church, 1103 West Main st., Medford. Sunday, Nov. 25,. at the Eagle Point Commu nity Bible church. A veteran of 25 years in the Orient, Hillis was driven out of China by the Communists and ind in 1950 preached to the Chinese nationalists troops on Formosa. He is the author of "Shall We Forfeit Formosa?" and "Dare We Recognize Red China?' Dr. Hillis will speak at 8 p.m. in Medford at the Assembly of God church and at the 11 a.m. morning service at the Com munity Bible church in Eagle Point. The public is invited to attend. Study-Interest Groups Continue "The Message of the Church, a Letter to- the Romans" will be the subject for the fourth session of the class taught by Dr. Ray mond E. Balcomb, "Paul's Let ters to Local Churches." This Pis one of the interest groups of the School of Christian Living being held a the First Methodist church on Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m: , Second interest group, "Fami ly Foruip" will view the film "Human Heredity." This group is led .by the Rev. George A. Trobough. The third interest group, the "Church Membership Class,." led by the Rev. Mrs. Anne Groby, will feature "The Local Church," with presentations by Ed Hass, Mrs. Lio.nel Rankin, Mrs. Jessie Minear, ' Vern Woltoff and Dr. J. Scott Heatherington. The snack supper at 6:3Q p.m. will be served by the Shipmates class. Inspiration time at 7 p.m. will be built around the theme: "Our Neighbors Celebrate," which will include a movie and a display of. articles used in Jew ish worship. A detailed study of the New Testament, beginning with a survey of. the New Testament and then a study of the Book of Mark, will be starting at 7:30, Sunday, Nov. 25, by The Path finders. The group will be meet ing in the Library of the First Methodist church and will be led by the Rev. George A. Trobough. The sermon by Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb for Sunday, Nov. 25 at both the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services will be, "The Man in the Middle." Music will include a solo by Mrs. Mary Ann McFad den, "Sheep May Safely Graze," by Bach, and anthems by the choirs "God Be in My Head" and "Now Thank We All Our God." Youth Group ot Local Church Participates In Grants Pass Meet Members of the Christ Ambas sadors y.outh group of the First Assembly of God church will participate in a convention for young people in Grants Pass this afternoon and evening. Meetings will be held at the First As sembly of God church. Delegates and visitors from southern Oregon and northern California will attend. The Rev. Wesley Steelberg of Fresno Calif, is convention speaker. The public is invited to attend. Draws tion. DICK HILLIS Student To Assist In Presbyterian Service Sunday Sunday at the First Presbyter ian church, Luke (Wei Ming) Chang of Shantung, China, will share in the morning worship services with Dr. D. Kirkland West, pastor of the church. Mr. Chang has studied at Sil liman university in the Philip pine Islands, and is now continu ing his studies at Lewis and Clark college in Portland under the sponsorship of the Presbyter ian Synod of Oregon. He plans to be a Christian doctor serving the mission work of the Church abroad. j service I The evening youth will be held at 7 p.m. when Mr. Chang will speak briefly to the young people before their reg ular Westminster Fellowship meeting. Miss Carol Dyke will lead the meeting entitled "Pick and Shovel Ambassadors". Dr. West will preach on "Get ting the Most From Life," and Miss Margaret Toews will sing the contralto solo "Sing a Joy ful Song." A group of men from the Presbyterian Mens club will at tend a statewide conference of Presbyterian men at MenUcha this weekend. Guest speakers will include rational president Kenneth G. McGilvray, secretary of state-elect Mark Hatfield, and Rollo C. LaPorte. The Rev. John O. Reynolds will accompany the Medford men to the conference, and will lead the Communion service for the men Sunday morning. The regular luncheon meet ing of the Medford Presbyterian Mens' club will be held Thurs day at noon in the church. Dr. West will speak. Ministers Convention Continues in Ashland A ministers convention is in progress at the First Baptist Holiness church, 567 Normal ave., Ashland and will continue through Sunday. Saturday the Bible question and answer sessions will con tinue, starting at 8 a.m. and con tinue until 4 p.m. with a break at noon for an hour and a half. DICK HILLIS, MISSIONARY just returned from FORMOSA, and general director of the Orient Cru sades and author of several books on Communism, at the MEDFORD ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH 1108 WEST MAIN STREET SATURDAY, NOV. 24th - at 8 P.M. DR. HILLIS was captured by the Communists at the City of Loho, Honan province, China. Later Dr. Hillis with his wife and family worked their way back through the lines to safety, returned to and taught Missions for two years at Los Angeles Bible institute. Through the ministry of the Orient Crusades mission aries and scores of native workers, more than 250,000 seekers have enrolled in the one-year Bible corre spondence course and many of these have already won others to Christ.
