NEALON Table Rock Wayne Wayatt, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wyatt, spent Wednesday night and Thursday in Sacred Heart hospital with a 22 caliber bul let hole through his left leg, caused by the discharging of an automatic pistol he was working with in the lunch room at the Table Rock Store last Wednesday evening. , The bullet tore a hole through the table top, went through Wayne's leg, struck the bench on which he was seated, and bounced up again lodging in the wound on the under side of his leg made when the bullet tore through from the upper side. I City fire department and the Central Point Rural I ire depart ment responded to a local fire According to Wilson, the city fire department did not take part, but instead the forest serv ice should have been given credit. The annual Thanksgiving din ner held Saturday night at the school, sponsored by the Com munity club, was attended by several visitors from out of the community. Among the visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kuest, of Beall lane, and two children; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Schulz, Sams Valley; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Smith, Phoenix; Mr. and Mrs. David Doran and two children, Medford. Tables were decorated with harvested grains, autumn leaves and flowers. The com mittee on arrangements included Miss Lucile Smith and Mrs. Ern est Spith. The decorating com mittee consisted of Mrs. Bert Pierce, Mrs. Don Wheeler, Mrs. E. W. Robinson. Bert Pierce, Superintendent of the local Sun day school offered a prayer of thanks. The L. B. Plummer family is now living in the large dwell ing on the Ray Baker farm. Plummer is an employee of the Commercial Credit corporation, Medford. Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Thomas took an automobile trip last week end with Mrs. Thomas's son, Wade Cottrell, Williams Creek. They left here Friday, taking the coast route, and drove to Hartsook Inn, Calif., where they visited at the home of Mrs. Cassinelli, Mrs. Thomas' daughter. Two coon dogs, belonging to Bill Bray, auctioneer, have re turned home after chasing a coon that took them so far from home that they were a day or two getting back. Bill said the dogs have caught about 50 coons along the river during the past year. With the taking of office next January by Ralph James, newly elected Democratic commis sioner, the part of the county north of the river, will have its first commissioner in nearly a quarter of a century. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hays of Gold Hill were business visitors here recently. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Sixkiller, and small son, formerly of the Agate district, are occupying the small house on the Ray Baker place. The present freezing temper atures have put an end here to all vegetables, such as tomatoes, melons, beans and sweet corn, and flowers, except some hardy varieties of chrysanthemums. Next month he'll por tray "a Leland Hayward type" in "Stagestruck," in which he wins the hand of Susan Stras berg, all of 19. "But I didn't sign for these pictures until the middle of Au gust, waiting until the last min ute for play scripts," the reluc tant movie star confessed in his familiar slow-paced voice. Acted Too Soon "The day after I signed, a play producer phoned and offered me a part! Now I probably won't be able to get back to the stage until next fall." Fonda was happily consider ing an offer to be a $100-a-week musical comedy star 22 years ago when producer Hayward, - United Press Correspondent By ALINE MOSBY then an agent, talked him into visiting Hollywood. "So later when I was seeing my family in Omaha I came to Hollywood," Fonda went on. "Hayward had Walter Wanger in the hotel and he signed me to make two pictures at $1000 a week in the summer, so I. could work in the theater the rest of the year." Becomes Success But Fonda became such a great screen success he was swallowed up by studio contracts. Only in recent years was he able to re turn to Broadway for such pjays as "Mister Roberts.". "I wanted to do Pierre as Tol stoy had written him, with pad ding to appear fat," he said, "The producers wouldn't let me."
