Funeral services for Ronald
Riley Mitchell, infant son of Mr.
and Mrs. William D. Mitchell,
2682 Crater Lake ave., who died
in a local hospital Wednesday,
will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday
in Chapel Mortuary. The Rev.
John O. Reynolds, assistant
pastor of the First Presbyterian
church, will officiate. Committal
will be in Siskiyou Memorial
park.
Besides his parents, the infant
is survived by one brother, Rob
ert Clive, and one sister, Betty
Diane; his paternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. C. . Mitchell, Co
quille; and his maternal grand

off sharply on the stock market
today while prices advanced.
A Dow-Jones Washington dis-
patch saying the Federal Re
serve was holding off further
advances in the discount rate
pending clarification of the Mid
dle East situation aided the list.
Shipbuilding shares were given
a whirl on visions of a giant
tanker program. New highs were
set by American, Bath Iron, and
New York.

Washingon this year, 45 more
than in the same period of last
year, the state patrol reported
today.
A total of 39 persons have
been killed this month, 11 more
than in the same period of last
November.

Longshore Wage
Negotiations Resume

sentatives of the International
Longshoremen's and Warehouse
men's union and the Pacific Mar
itime association met today in a
renewal of their wage negotiations.
The negotiations took place
under a wage review clause of
the "no strike" contract be
tween the ILWU and West Coast
shippers. The contract runs un
til the middle of 1958.
The negotiations were stalled
for a week because the ILWU
refused to work East and Gulf
coast ships putting into Pacific
coast ports.
The ILWU agreed to work
these ships, temporarily at least,
after a 24-hour stop work meet
ing Monday. At that meeting,
the 18.000 West Coast longshore
men gave President Harry
Bridges a vote of confidence on
a program of work stoppages
and strikes to help the East
Coast longshoremen.

In Crash With Train

day when their car collided

threats to his regime by promi
nent army officers.
Two generals were arrested on
suspicion of plotting against the
government. Four top army
leaders were fired for policy
reasons. -
There were indications that
the shakeup may reach into
Aramburu's own political fam
ily. Aramburu, in a radio broad
cast Thursday night, said "Some
people around me are trying to
take advantage of the situation''
by stirring up inter-service rivalry.
