have been married two years.
We're both working and saving

My parents are not very well

I have to help them out. They
won't take a regular allowance

The difficulty is that when I
buy a gift for my parents, Lil

buy one equally expensive, al

when I bought my mother a new
refrigerator, which she needed
desperately, Lillian went out and
bought her folks an expensive
TV set, although they had a per

I am not against my wifes buy

Warren's parents do not have
the same standard of living as
my parents. They have enough
money for the necessities of life,
but when Warren sees how my
parents live, I think he gets a

Warren also overlooks the

when we married we have not
had many of the expenses most
young married couples must con

First issued in December 1949,

Jewelry to Come
In Darker Shades
Br UNITED PRESS
One designer predicts a great
future for the dark shades of
jewelry.
"The darker tones are on the
ascent," said Mrs. Judith Mc
Cann. "Right now, they're high
fashion. By next year they'll be
popular."
Mrs. McCann said one of her
best sellers is a smoky shade of
baroque pearl she calls "black
brilliance." She combines it
with rhinestone or with white
pearls. One "black brilliance"
necklace a variation of the dog
j collar can be worn three ways.
It has a patented feature Which
makes it small enough to circle
a chignon, or large enough to
make a low-slung evening neck
lace. Some of the new diamond
jewelry is "out of this world."
Among the winners at the re
cent "Diamonds USA" awards
in New York was a set of wom
en's dress cuff-links and shirt
waist studs in star shapes. A set
of earrings had crescent moons
in diamonds and pearls for the
.top of the ear. with smaller
crescents for the base. Another
design featured a miniature
"earth" watch. The tiny globe
sparkled with blue enamel seas,
platinum land-masses, and with
the equator and north pole area
in diamonds.

Ex-Mayor of
Says Tourists
Elwood Husscy, who resigned
last week as mayor of Cave Junc
tion, said Monday that tourists in
the city have been unfairly
treated by the police chief and
city council members for the
past two years. Hussey, long
time mayor of the city, was a
Medford visitor yesterday.
During a city council meeting
Nov. 13, Hussey threw his gavel
in the lap of Police Chief Don
Holton. saying he wanted "noth
ing to do with a town run by the
chief of police and his family."
Carrol Banks, who defeated
Hussey for the mayor's position
in the Nov. 6 election, was
named acting mayor until his
official term begins.
Hussey said Holton and his
brother-in-law, the city's only
other regular police officer,
have been "jumping on tourists"
and fining them "as much as
S25" for exceeding the speed
limit.
He said, "tourist trade is the
town's main source of income,
but it's getting so bad people
are planning their trips to avoid
going through Cave Junction."
Hussey added that he had home
steaded the town of Cave Junc
tion, incorporated it and served
as mayor for most of its period
of incorporation.
The' former mayor also said
