Thompson, presiding minister of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, has reported a 12x12 ineh glass block near the door at the front of the church build ing was destroyed last week. He said he believed the damage had been done with a sledge ham mer. The building is located at 2402 Jacksonville highway. w K. Falls Woman Dies of Injuries Klamath Falls (U.R) Zelda Pearson, 27, Klamath Falls, died in a hospital here last night of injuries suffered Oct. 22 when she was struck by a car near Klamath Falls. Police reported at that time that the woman had stepped into the path of a car driven by 16-year-old Ronald Wickline. Mrs. Pearson was on two years probation from Klamath county circuit court where she was ac cused of attempting to aid a prisoner to escape by sending him a hacksaw blade inside a cherry pie. - Obituaries VERNON B. Cncster, 1010 South Third St., Jacksonville, while on leave from the Navy. Chester enlisted through the local recruiting station in No vember o last year. Alter re cruit training he attended an eight weeks airman fundamen tals school in Norman, Okla., and was sent to Jacksonville, Fla., for a 20 weeks course at aviation electricians school. In addition to his regular studies at this school, he also took cor respondence courses to com plete high school subjects and first year college level courses. Though he completed only the ninth grade in formal schooling, he recently passed the equival ency examinations for the first year college. Chester is now stationed at San Diego. California North Is land Naval air station with anti submarine squadron VS-38. HOME ON LEAVE Jerry Neale Sides, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack R. Sides, 926 Murray ave., Medford. is home on 16 days leave from the Navy. Sides is a seaman stationed aboard the U.S.S. Mataco. a fleet tug. He enlisted through ! the local recruiting station in June, 1954. The six-day AGLEX (Air Ground Landing Exercise), in volving 15,000 Marines from the 1st Marine Division, was high lighted by a combined land, sea and air assault on "aggressor" territory on D-day, Nov. 2. The attack featured a conven tional amphibious landing, a helicopter-borne troop assault launched from an aircraft carrier against inland objectives and Ma rine jets flying close air support. IN KOREA Pvt. Gordon R. Carrigan, 21, son of Mr. and, Mrs. Gene B. Carrigan, route 2, Central Point, is a member of the 24th infantry division in Korea. Carrigan, an ammunition bear er in Company M of the divi sion's 34th Regiment, entered the Army in August, 955. and ar rived overseas last July. Elmo Smith will make all 1957 budget information he has available to Governor - elect Robert D. Holmes in order to provide an orderly transition of administra tion.
