: c Society Dinner Planned For Two Groups; c Ceremony Held Members of Colonel Sargent Camp, United Spanish War Vet Clans, and auxiliary will hold a Thanksgiving dinner and meet ing st Redman tall Sunday, No vember 18, at 1 p.m. There will be an installation and the auxil iary president, Mrs. James Cech, states that? it is important for all members be present. All Spanish War Veterans and their families are welcome to attend. Mrs. Josephine Wiener will be in charge of the dinner and mothers are requested to phone her at 2-2225 concerning dinner arrangements. Cebu swamp, Military Order f the Lizards, USWV, will hold a meeting and potluck dinner, at the home of Mrs. James Cech, 28 Quince street, today, at 1 p.m. Mrs. Mabel Nicholson, gila mon ster, will preside at the business meeting and plans will be made for a Christmas party and meet ing to be held in Grants Pass'. Mr. Holmer is on semi-sab batical leave from Willamette Dorcas Society Elects Officers Officers were elected at a re cent meeting of Southern Ore gon Federated Dorcas Welfare society, of the Seventh-Day Ad ventist churches. It was held in the Eagle Point Grange hall. The new officers are Mrs. Bliss Hudson. Ashland, presi dent; Mrs. John Meehan. Wil liams, vice-president: Mrs. Clar ence Hayward, Central Point, secretary; Mrs. Hershal Harper. Eagle Point, assistant secretary. Reports were given by Ash land, Klamath Falls. Medford. Valley View. Eagle Point. Grants Pass and Williams socie ties. Guest speaker was Elder J. Brown, Watsonville, Calif. Elder Brown, director of the World Welfare Work for Seventh-Day Adventists. said that the church sent 450.000 pounds of clothing to the California flood areas last winter. Also present was Elder Rit chey, state director of the home missionary and Dorcas welfare work. Music was provided by Mrs. Ervin Woodruff, Ashland. Mrs. James Rumble, Mrs. Melvin Zirkel and Mrs. Verne Hill, Medfords, Mrs. Burns and the Misses Carol and Patty Purshel. Eagle Point, and Mrs. Charles Turck. Williams. Mrs. Frank Archer. Mr. Holmer was assistant to Mr. Johnson when Mr. Johnson was director of the studies of the little Hoover committee, and later was consultant on admin istrative procedures to the State Department of Veterans Affairs. Last year Mr. Holmer was the executive secretary of the legislative interim 'committee on elections and election proced ures. Recently he has been su pervising the preparation of two reports for the legislative interim committee on local government. One of these reports covers county government in Oregon, the other is relative to state and local governmental relation ships. Mr. Holmer will speak for an half hour, then the meeting will be open for questions and dis cussion. The public is welcome to attend both the luncheon and the meeting or to come just to hear Mr. Holmer at 1:15 p.m. Reservations are to be made for the luncheon by calling Mrs. Homer Marx. 2-6845. Reserva tions are unnecessary to hear Mr. Holmer. Zonta President Presents Report Mrs. Jean Fish. Zonta club president, reported Thursday on the District VIII convention of Zonta International held in Spo kane. October 25, 26 and 27 which she attended as delegate. The panel discussions which she told about included potentials of Zonta, Zonta in public affairs, women in government and Zonta in international relations. Guests of the club for the luncheon meeting at the Jack son hotel were Mrs. Jerri Hut ton. Mrs. Joan Burk, Mrs. Nellie Laing, Mrs. Grace Keeler and Jean Jaeger. The next meeting of the club will be a banquet celebrating the 20th anniversary of its founding. Dr. Helen Pierce of Salem will be the guest speak er. Dr. Pierce was here 20 years ago when the Medford Zonta club received its charter. J. Smith, 1033 Queen Anne avenue, Wednesday, No vember 14. at 8 p.m. A discussion panel will con sist of Dr. Harry Danielson, a psychiatrist who serves part time with the Child Guidance clinic, and Miss Celia Walker, child welfare supervisor for Jackson county Public Welfare commission. Miss Jerry Jerome will be moderator. They will discuss the present mental health program in Jack son county, what services are now offered, and the possible need for further services such as a family service agency. A question and answer period will follow in which the mem bers will be encouraged to par ticipate in order to make it a more informative program. The program is in charge of Miss Jerome, chairman, Miss Vandenburg and Miss Rhoda Williams. DAV, Auxiliary Plan Social Tuesday Night; Sewing Club to Meet Disabled American Veterans and auxiliary will hold a pie so cial Tuesday, November 13, at their hall, 1515 North Riverside avenue at 8 p.m. Each woman attending is asked to take a pumpkin pie. The DAV Auxiliary Sewing club will meet at noon Thurs day. November 15, at the home of Mrs. Ruth Elliott, 513 Oregon Terrace, for a potluck luncheon. Doctor to Speak For OSNA Chapter Dr. William W. P. Holt will speak at a meeting of District Four, Oregon State Nurses' as sociation, Tuesday, November 13, at 8 p.m. in the penthouse at Rogue Valley hospital. Dr. Holt has practiced medicine in Jackson county for 50 years and will review some of his exper iences. All registered nurses are in vited to attend.
