Medford Couple At Homecoming Mr. and Mrs. William White, 1844 Woodlawn drive, Medford, were among more than 110 Lin field college alumni registered for annual Homecoming last week end at McMinnville. Events included numerous stu dent contests, a parade, banquet, alumni meeting, play and foot ball game with College of Idaho which Linfield won 20 to 7. The homecoming queen. Miss Evelyn Andrus of Salem, was crowned during the festivities. Members of her court were Miss Phyllis Nelson, Hoquiam, Wash., Miss Shirley Michel, Powell Butte, and Miss Lucy Lofton, McMinnville. November 11, 1935 , Area Council Announces Meeting A panel discussion of their experiences at the Senior Round up of Girl Scouts in July will be presented by four Rogue Val ley scouts as a highlight of the program at the Rogue Valley Area Council of Girl Scouts Wed nesday, November 14. The girls will show slides taken on the trip, and two will also tell of their trip recently to a regional conference at Spokane. Attending the Senior Round up, which was held near De troit. Mich., were Mary Friend and Karen Johnson of Medford, and Sandra Ullian and Judy Dreis of Grants Pass. Miss Friend and Miss Stevenson at tended the Spokane meeting. The council will hear the re ports at the -morning session which start at 10 a.m. at St. Marks Guild hall. Representa tives from Medford, Ashland, and Grants Pass-Illinois Valley plan to attend. Election of officers, a vote on whether to make the Yreka, Calif., area a part of Region 11 for Girl Scouting and a vote on whether to lease Grayback camp from the Forest Service are on the agenda. Four communities in Siskiyou county have asked to be made part of Region 11 of Girl Scout ing. Fort Jones, Yreka, Hilts and Happy Camp have approximate ly 269 girls enrolled in scouting, assisted by about 100 adults. The proportion of adults to girls is high because the troops are run as "lone troops," and each must have a lone troop committee be fore it can be organized. The Siskiyou area at present is not under a council jurisdiction; a field director visits the area once a year to give what aid is needed. Leaders in that area have no established training in basic leadership such as was re cently concluded in Medford. Camp Grayback has been used by Girl Scouts for day camp, trip camps, and adult training camp on a temporary basis, but now the area would like to lease it for a year round campsite. It is accessible in the winter, be ing located on the highway to the Oregon Cave. It would be used as a day camp site for Il linois Valley; as a winter re creational area, and also for troop and trip camping. It would be available to all other organ izations meeting Girl Scout re quirements for camping. It must be leased from the U.S. Forest Service. All adults working with or interested in Scouting are wel come to attend the council meet ing. They are requested to bring a sack lunch and coffee will be provided. Other activities during the day will include the introduction of the new officers, and the pre sentation of the flag ceremony following the invocation. Mrs. R. W. Gray and Mrs. Charles Barnes are in charge of the program. Mrs. Frank Lewis Honored at Party A shower was held Thursday, November 8, at the home of Mrs. D. E. Davis to honor Mrs. Frank Lewis. Following the opening of gifts bridge and pinochle were played. Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Ted Hor necker won pinochle prizes, and Mrs. D. P. Shoup a bridge prize. Square dancing and a potluck supper for all members of Ladies troop, Jack son County Sheriff's posse, Jack son County Junior posse, Med ford Trail Riders and Rogue Rangers are planned. They are making an urgent appeal for all kinds of dolls, in good repair, and must have them now in order to have time to make the dolls Christmas wardrobes. Dolls are to be taken to the Medford central fire hall on or before Monday, November 12. "This is an emergency request fcr help directed to little girls and their mothers," the chair man states.
