Pol." Adv. Selby for Mayor Committee Around Hollywood y ALINE M05BY United Press Correspondent 44 Aline Moibr Hollywood flJ P Los An-. geles (where else) has been se- lected for'what is called the first i arrival on earth of men i from Mars Wednesday night. , j This com- j m u n i q u e : comes from an ; earth organi- z a t i o n, the ; Space Inter-', planetary Study Group, which has become virtually another popular re ligion in this land of fads about the hereafter. The group, headed by Presi dent Gabriel Green, for months has been playing on local TV and radio stations a tape record ing that predicts the space ship will hover over the orange groves and supermarkets Nov. 7. On this recording, allegedly made by mental telepathy from Mars, a celestial-sounding voice booms out the news that the saucers will sail into sight to prove they really exist. With M-day approaching, I visited President Green to see how members of the SISG were preparing for the event. Green, a 31-year-old photo grapher for the Los Angeles city school system, has a problem: How to get a local TV or radio station to go off the air for two minutes when the saucers ar rive. "The men from Mars say they will speak to us on the wave length of a station if that sta tion will cease its programming," explained Green. One station in San Luis Obis po (KATY) obligingly will ob serve two minutes of silence. But Green fears the station is too far away for the space men to be able to use it. The space ship, he continued, is due at 10:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time apparently the IIBDBiaOIB Don't miss America's most exerting "ELECTION EVE TV RALLY' PRESIDENT EISENHOWER VICE-PRESIDENT NIXON Join the swing to Eisenhower and Nixon. He says it will be oblong in length and brightly lit. It will be a mother ship with little saucers tucked inside, he added. Whether the Martians will disembark and be photographed with Jayne Mans field at Ciro's, he doesn't know. The photographer, a bachelor who lives with his parents, is enjoying fame with his project, which might explain it. His space club meetings in auditoriums draw hundreds of customers, in cluding, he says, space men dis guised as earthlings. "They've been sent to earth," he says, "to help people solve their problems and this gets into religion." sea We're positively neutral about the election for mayor.
