Save Minors
Group Picked
New York (U.R) A six
man committee has been formed
to "save the minors" but base
ball Commissioner Ford Frick
said today it' has not been set
up to "hand out a half million
dollars recklessly."
Frick said up to $500,000 has
been pledged by the majors, not
as a subsidy, but more as a
"bank" where distressed minor
leagues may go for help. In
some cases, he said, there may
be grant-in-aid, in others the
money merely will be loaned.
"I imagine that the members
will hear hardship cases and de
termine each one on its merits,"
Frick said.
