BIX MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Tuesday, October 30. 1936 ; Around Hollywood y AUNI MOSBT United Press Correspondent Hollywood (ll.R) Jayne Mansfield, free after her divorce over a chihuahua, has a man who likes dogs all picked out as her next husband. Cotton -top-ped Jayne, w h o's taking over at Fox studio where Marilyn Mon roe left off. AJlne Moe by went to court last week to divorce Paul Mans field. He had complained she liked little dogs more than him. The bosomy actress has been insisting her escort for the past five months, brawny Mickey 'Mr. Universe" Hargitay, was just a pal. But now she con fesses it's true love for this "fabulous hunk of man," all 233 pounds of him. "I want a husband and six children and a complete life and I bet 1 get 'em," said Jayne. "I - want movie stardom more than anything else in the world, and I hope two years will be enough to get my career established. Then if I feel the same way in two years about Mickey as I do now, we'll get married. Delay Proves Satisfactory "Iff a good thing I can't mar ry for a year until my divorce is final, or I'd weaken and mar ry him tomorrow. He loves an imals as much as 1 do. Why, once he had 17 great danes." Jayne was stretched out on the couch in her dressing room at 20th Century-Fox where she's finishing her first starring movie. "The Girt Can't Help It." She kept pulling her dressing gown around her ample curves. "Hungarians are fabulous. There's something about foreign men," she said dreamily. Hargitay and Miss M. make a startling combination around movietown. He is as husky a speciman of manhood as the beauty is of womanhood. Jayne first spotted him when he was flexing his muscles in Mae West's nightclub act. Jayne stole him from Mae in more ways than one, according to the gossip col umnists. Actress Meets Muscleman "I told my escort, 'I'd like that one on the left as a steak for my dog,' " explained Jayne. "Next thing I know this fabulous hunk of man was sitting next to me. "I always thought muscle men were just something to look at, that they couldn't carry on a conversation. But Micky is in telligent. And so tender. He The Family Council editor's noi: Tbt Family Council consists ol a Jodgt. a psychiatrist, thr.a clergymen. newspaper editor a women's editor and two writers. Cacb article l a summary of an actual report The Family Council does not give advice: It merely reports on problems that have been dealt with bj responsible agencies and counselors Dianna W. I want to be a a working mother. Henry W. The children need supervision. . Dianna W. My husband and il have been married 14 years and have a son and daughter, aged 10 and 12. I have a good education and can now get an an excellent job, which I am longing to take. I never enjoyed the role of housewife very much and have been preparing my children to be independent. I've been very successful in this. My husband does not make a very good salary and there is little prospect of our income ; increasing in any other way. jThe children are getting to the :age where more money will mean lots more opportunity to jthem. My husband and I agreed long ago that I should return to I work around this time, but he is backing out now. I feel strong !ly that it will be to the children's 'benefit for me to go to work now, ;for I am so restless that I am short-tempered with them. Henry W. It's true that I agreed long ago that Dianna should go back to work when the kids would be old enough to be on their own, but I'm chancing my mind about what age that should be. My wife is making too much of an argu ment out of my change of mind. My own sister has been a working mother al her life, but had to quit her job to stay home when she discovered that her "well-brought-up" children had invited other teen-agers to their home for petting parties while she was away. I know that my sister deeply regrets having gone to work. She was able to prevent a tragic situation just in time. I don't think any material ad vantage can make up for a mother's personal supervision during those dangerous teen years. i I will be very much in favor j of Pianna going to work when it is safe for the children. The Council: Child guidance ; experts are almost one hundred j per cent on Henry's side. These j children are approaching a cru-1 cial age, 'and there is hardly a j I material advantage in the world I that can make up for the lack 'of their mother's presence in ithe home. Dianna might argue that there are only two or three hours be tween the time the children come home from school and din nertime when she will be there. But has she fully pictured to (herself children coming home ifrom school and finding no ! motherly ear to hear the full j story of the day's happenings? Even when the children run out to play as soon as they come home they usually enjoy a sense of security when they know their mother is in the house. A lot can happen to youngsters in two or three hours especially when they have an uneasy, lone ly feeling. It is true that many working mothers manage to bring up hap py, well-behaved youngsters. But why run risks if it is not neces sary? The answer to Dianna s rest lessness is probably part-time work. She may not be able to get the work she likes best or that pays best and she may to do some exploring and scouting. However, she is very likely to hit on a suitable job eventually and she will have the comfort of knowing she is doing the best thing for the children.
