Crater Hieh was a beehive of activity W'amscZ as students rushed about f ra n t i c a lly pleading with the clocks to stand still while they completed the last assign ment. Because most work at Medley must be typed for' grades, the Ecarest item around was an avail able typewriter. Most students and teachers, are glad his hap pens just once every six-weeks. The newly elected freshmen yell leaders made their first pub lic appearance last Friday, when the freshmen played the ninth graders of Hedrick Junior High. The yell leaders are Joan Skov, yell queen, and 'Sharla Blake. Vicik Workman, Linda Tidwell, and Melba Tucker. Their out fits are black and white bulky knit sweaters, and black pedal pushers. Faber' Market in Central Point housed a Comets baked foods sale. The sale was just one of many projects to earn money for the new uniforms for basketball. Chairman for the money - making committee is Joanne Ritter. Sweet strains floated through the halls of Crater last Tues day evening when the school choir under the direction of Nor man Carothers sang for the Junior Chamber of Commerce banquet held in the cafeteria. The choir sang such numbers as "Be Kind to Your Parents". "Blue Star", and "Lullaby of Birdland." A bit of nostalgia could be noted last week when seniors began dragging to school their old annuals from the eighth grade. Cries of horror could be heard upon spotting a "ghastly" picture of oneself. Tomorrow, Karen Johnson, assoicated student body secre tary of Crater, will participate in a panel discussion on school spirit at a Student Council Con ference which will be held at Medford High school. The theme of the conference is "Better Students Today Make . Better Citizens Tomorrow." The end of the six-weeks per iod also means the end of the first group of drivers training students. The six-weeks long course is ended with the test for the students' drivers licenses. Teacher Earl Fitchner is then ready to take on a new group Although the teacher does "noth ing but ride around all day," his job is perhaps one of the most nerve-wracking at school. Bo Elden and Clifford Bigham, officers in the Future Farmers of America, left last week to attend the National FFA con vention, in Kansas City, Mis souri. My unfaithfulness has driven my wife away. Martha B. How many times can a wife forgive? Grant B. My wife recently walked out on me with our two youngsters, aged eight and ten. I have given her good cause, I must admit, but I love her and my children very much and I am desperate to get them back. In the 12 years of our mar riage I have been unfaithful to her with many different women It's just something I couldn't help. I am in a business that throws me into contact with many attractive women. I have just been unable to resist the temptation. Martha threatened to leave me many times before, but this time she seems determined. I am so desperate I have offered to give up my work, which has given us an excellent income, and start from scratch in a new business. Martha B. How many times can a wife forgive? I knew Grant was a "lady's man" when I married him, but I thought be cared enough for me to make some attempt to curb himself. Somehow, I don't feel entirely reassured by his offer to go into a new line of business. I have always loved my husband and always will, but I have to think of the children. They are old enough to understand things, and I don't want to expose them to this kind of life. I have the feeling that I am partly to blame for his conduct because, by repeatedly forgiving him, I have condoned it. I now feel it is essential that I prove to him. by separation, that I do not condone his unfaithfulness. The Council Grant makes a good excuse for himself and then offers an all-too-simple remedy. His work has thrown him in the path of temptation and he will, therefore, change his work. His offer indicates a partially honest desire to reform but is not the whole solution and Martha is right to be mis trustful of it. Grant appears to be the type of man who is not so much irresistibly drawn as he wants them to be irresistibly drawn to him. Such a man will hold on to his wife and family with all his power. Beneath Grant's attitude to ward his wife and other women is a deep insecurity He is the Don Juan type, who must prove to himself over and over again that he can conquer a woman. No matter how many conquests he adds to his chain, he is never completely satisfied. He must try again. The fear of losing his family has led Grant to seek desperate remedies this time. Changing his work might be helpful for a time, but in the long run, even if Grant works in contact with average-looking women, his de sire to conquer once more, add another name to his list wouk" probably overcome him. Grant must recognize, first of all, that his problem, comes from within himself, not the outside The temptation he speaks of is not so much a sexual as a psy chological one. If Grant finds that he cannot fight the battle all by himself, he would do well to seek further help from a physician or clergy man.
