He recently finished the roof, using attractive red shingles. To all participants of the "goat meat" debate, we are happy to inform you that we now have obtained the needed information. Al Pawlowskl handed us the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farmers bulletin No. 1203, entitled, "The Angora Goat," which states that the word "chevon" was adopted by Angora goat producers, and it's use in this connection is recog nized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mrs. Edmund Ramsay said she found the word "chevon" in her Webster's International diction ary of 1944. Services at the Ruch Commu nity church will include Sun day school at 10 a.m., worship service, 11 a.m. and Bible study, 8 p.m. Mrs. L. C. Fifteen women attended the last Little Applegate Knitting club held at the home of Mrs Frank Mitchell. A surprise hand kerchief shower was given for Mrs. John Sutton, who will be leaving the area shortly. Mrs. Otis Buck entertained the ladies by playing several selections on the piano. A German raisin cake was baked by Mrs. Henry Bur meister for the occasion. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. C. W. Childers, of Palmer creek rd., Tuesday, Nov. 20. A farewell supper was given to Mr. and Mrs. John Sutton, who will be leaving the first part of November for Long Beach, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Farrand last Saturday. A new interest for 4-H work has developed in the Upper Ap plegate area, and several volun teers have offered to lead the following clubs: Armin Richter, beef club; H. W. Barker, pig club; Larry Tweedy, sheep club and Gail Buffington, tractor maintenance. For several years Ed Fossen had led the livestock club, but has now been relieved by these individual clubs. Fossen will , Sunday, October 21, 19S8 continue with the dairy club. and Mrs. Charles Williams is leader of the clothing club. These clubs are open to all children from age nine and up, and it is hoped that a sufficient number of children will respond. It takes five children to form a club. Other projects are also of fered, and if enough children are interested, efforts will be made to obtain a leader. These projects are forestry, cooking, poultry, rabbits, hobbies and homemaking. Rural Reflections: There is a modern "good Samaritan" at Dividend bar, who practices "loving thy neighbor as thy self." Recently, a box of pol ished red apples was placed on the side of the road with a sign, "Take one" above it. Apprecia tive loggers have been observed munching on the fruit that the annoymous "good neighbor" left.
