Three-Car Crash Cars op erated by Thomas Wayne Rich ardson, 33, Portland; Eldon Elroy McGarity, 18, of box 219 Talent; and Steven Gene Tip ton, 27, . of 106 Walden lane, Talent, were involved in an ac cident on Highway 99 just south of Medford about 12:55 p.m. yesterday, according to state police. The Richardson and McGarity vehicles were stop ped waiting for another car to make a left turn, when they were struck from behind by the Tipton car, police said. Elroy Hirsch in "CRAZY LEGS" Marine Hero's Wife Says Corps Made His Life 'Hell on Earth1 Parris Island. S.C. -4U.R) The wife of a Marine Congressional Medal of Honor winner convict- ed of asking his commanding officer said the Corps made her husband's life "a hell on earth" after he received the nation's highest military citation. The marine, Alfred Lee Mc Laughlin, 28, of Leeds, Ala., Thursday began serving a three- month sentence following his court martial. He occupied a brig cell with Matthew C. McKeon the former drill sergeant who led the Parris Island "death march.' Mrs. McLaughlin charged that the Marines exploited her hus band after President Eisenhow er awarded him the Congression al Medal of Honor in 1953 for killing 150 enemy soldiers in Korea. She also charged that other Marines ridiculed him be cause he had won the medal. McLaughlin, who was a tech nical sergeant before the court martial, was found guilty of an armed attack on his commanding officer, Maj. Henry Checklou, stripped of his rank, fined $120 and sentenced to serve three months. The conviction, Mrs. McLaugh lin charged, "just wasn't fair af ter all Mac has given to the Corps and his country." Her husband, she said, never had a peaceful moment after President Eisenhower gave him the medal. U.R) A 25-year-old Marine pilot, a member of the Navy's famous Blue An gels flight demonstration team since February, was killed late Thursday when his plane crash ed during a routine practice session over the Gulf of Mexico. Holloway, a much decorated Korean veteran, was the Marine corps representative on the crack flying team which has ap peared in cities throughout the nation. An outdoor advertising com pany executive, Faust informed neighbors of the new arrival on huge billboard which read: "It's a b-o-y, Timothy Foust, weight eight pounds, seven ounces, born Oct. 17 and made in California by Californians." JOHANNES LAHSEN Funeral services for Johannes Andreas Larsen, 73, who died at his home, 705 Dakota ave., Wed nesday, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Mortuary with the Rev. R. V. Bolster, rec tor of St. Mark's Episcopal church, officiating. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. Casket bearers will be Carl Timmons, Ernest Ruegger, Rob ert Ebbe, Claude Demo, Melvin Weaver, and Harry Harrison. Those wishing to do so may either send flowers, or make a contribution to the Rogue Valley Memorial hospital, addressed to 28 South Bartlett St., Medford. Mr. Larsen, the son of And reas and Petrikke Johannessen Larsen, was born in Tromso, Norway, Feb. 24, 1883. He went to sea while young and became a captain in the Merchant Mar ines, in which branch he served for more than 50 years. During World War I his ships were on transport duty, sailing under the Norwegian flag, and during World War II, also on transport duty, he sailed under the United States flag after having become a naturalized citizen. He was married in Norway on June 13. 1916, to Bertilie Blom quist, who survives. The couple came to Medford 214 years ago, to be near their daughter, Miss B. J. Larsen, administrator of Rogue Valley Memorial hospital. Other survivors include one son, Dr. A. M. Larsen. of the Veterans hospital, San Francisco; another daughter, Miss Solveig Larsen, Chicago, 111.; one sister, Mrs. Sam Snare, Bremerton, Wash.; and one brother, Peder Larsen, in Norway.
