He stated the governmant was do ing a lot of work in India, hir ing Indian help, and that this money was used to pay them. Plans were made for the coming Grange Carnival, Oct. 26. Chester Jensen made a report on fire insurance and stated that now, at the cost of S4 per per son, the family could be includ ed in the farm liability policy. In the past only those employed were covered. As dairy chair man. Jensen reported that the trend in dairying now. over most of the United Stales, was for less cows and higher produc tion, although Oregon is not fol lowing this trend as yet. Jensen is also flood control representative fqr interprise Grange. He announced that there were several meetings coming up on the subject, and that the Flood Control associa tion urged that the public take part in a series of hearings, start ing next week, and that they could submit statements on why they believed flood control to be a vital program. He said that they wanted all statements in writing. Legislative chairman, Dave Blair, made a report on state is sues found in the official voters pamphlet. He urged all members to read and understand each is sue in the pamphlet before go ing to the polls in November. A vote of thanks was extend ed to James and Lottie Martin for making a sign, which is to be posted on grange property in regard to truck parking on the grounds. Chaplain Lottie Martin report ed that Mrs. Syball Allie was in the hospital with back injuries, Eddie Novak was home from hospital after an operation and that Mrs. Ester Sunds sister was much better and that Ester would be home soon. Mrs. Hag berry's husband is still very ill but improving. Grace Heer, lecturer, showed two short movies. The first on Good Citizenship the second, a comedy. The first picture brought to mind how we, as an individual, can help our com munity build good citizenship. James Martin and Arthur Moorman offered to clean up and School Employees Hold Joint Meeting Dean Morrow of Eugene dis cussed highlights of the zone rally of" the Oregon School Em ployees' association at Roseburg Nov. 3 at a joint meeting of the Medford and Jackson county chapters recently at McLough lin Junior High school. Members and other school employees have been urged to attend the rally to meet with officers of t he association as well as those in other school dist ricts. Clifford W. Hutchins, 112 South Columbus ave., is secre tary of the Medford chapter. 4-H Club News Rip and Sw Club The Eagle Point Rip and Sew Club met Thursday, Oct. 11, in the new school cafeteria. This was the second meeting held this year. The first one was held Oct. 2. Officers elected at this meet ing for the coming year were president, Suzie Palm; vice pres ident, Susie Carroll; secretary treasurer, Vonnie Goehring, and reporter, Cathie Carroll. There were 26 members en rolled in the club as of the last meeting. This includes 14 girls just beginning. Leaders for this year are Mrs. Huffman work ing with the older- girls and Mrs. Putman and Mrs. Edge helping younger members. Also assisting are Mrs. Spears and Mrs. Milson. At the first meeting projects were explained to members. At at the recent meeting project books were handed out to mem bers in Charmingly Yours, Teenage Miss, and Clothing 4 and 5. The Sew It's Fun group practiced threading needles. Cathie Carroll Reporter remove the tree that fell over in our last storm. The tree fell acros Mr. and Mrs. Owing's fence. The boys agreed to fix the fence also. Hosts and Hostesses for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Nor man Wade and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Moorman. The submarine USS Torsk holds the U. S. Navy record for number of dives, with 8,000 to its credit.
