A baby sitter will be available to care for small children below church school age. The Annex building is located immediately behind the new church school building on North Oakdale. Unitarian Fellowship To Sponsor Meetings The Unitarian fellowship of Grants Pr.s is sponsoring two meetings next week featuring Ihe Rev. Horace Batchclder. Con gregational minister of Oregon City and an ordained Unitarian minister. The first meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. A pot- luck supper will begin the even ing and a movie will be shown for the children. Mr. Batchelder will load a dicu;ion on the problems of a liberal religion. A similar meeting will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. Both meetings will be held upstairs at 324 N. W. Sixth. Grams P.-.'s. 1 The Unitarian fellowship of Mcdford and Ashland and all interested persons are invited to attend. Fireplace Dedication The young people of the Ash land Methodist church will participate Sunday in the dedica tion of the new outdoor fire place at the church. The fircpiace. which will be available to all croups of the church, was built with money raved by the young people who also aided in its construction. R. X. Chancy, stone and brick mason, built the fireplace. The dedication will be held Sunday at 5 p. m. and members of the church and their friends are invited to attend the ceremony. NOTICE! Albert Grandt, Medford industrial designer, presented the church with plans and blue prints; the U. S. Fore.st service donated through administrative use permit, logs to 18,000 board feet: local loggers and truckers felled and hauled them: Elk Lumber company contributed the sawing; Medford corporation, Ross lumber company and Steve Wilson Logging company do nated additional lumber. Bill Edmondson, who.se hobby is rehabilitating antique steam engines, hooked one ol them to shinglcbolter and with the help of neighbors, cut shingles for tne roof. Nate Stoddard of Butte Falls donated the plumbing, Larry Basey of Gold Hill sent the bap tismal tank and the tank lor the heating system, and Don Troxel of Medford contributed an auxil iary heater for the Sunday school rooms. Many contributions of money have also helped along with other items and labor has been contributed by many Butte Falls people, as well as by friend.s from Medford and Central Point. Several boys between the ages of 9 and 14, members of the congregation, work on Saturdays with the men. Many of the items still needed include windows, doors, electric wiring and fixtures, pew.s, and cement sidewalks. Pastor of the church, the Rev. Howard Simmonds, says, "We put our trust in the Lord when we started, and He hasn't failed us yet." Since the .start of construction attendance at the church and Sunday school have almost doubled. The present church building, which will become the Sunday school department when the new building is completed, was built in the early 1900s. It was governed by the Pres byterian Board of Mission;; from 1910 until 1943 when it became interdenominational. Its minister is now assigned by the Village Missions. Mrs. Carrie Poole, one of the charter members of the church, still lives in Butte Falls. Dr. West To Leave For Alaska Oct. 18 Dr. D. Kirkland West, pastor of the First presbyterian church. has been chosen by the Board of National Missions of the Presby terian church as one of 25 min isters to conduct a preaching mif. ion in Alaska. Dr. West been appointed to Sitka, where a new Presbyterian church has been built. The Sheldon Jackson school is also located there. The local minister will leave Medford Oct. 18 and return after Nov. 1. Schedule Changed At Eagle Point Mission St. Peter's Lutheran preach ing minion, which meets at the Antelope school near Eagle Point, has revised its Sunday afternoon schedule, according to the pastor, the Rev. Some churches have scheduled extra services to provide for the anticipated attendance. Others are planning special programs with new members being received into the fellowship of the church. I Congregational Church Communion will be observed at the Congregational church at both services this Sunday. Church officials suggest that others attend the 11 a. m. serv ice to avoid the possibility of a crowded church at the earlier hour. Eastwood Baptist Church Special emphasis will be given to missions during the services Sunday when world communion will be observed at the East wood Baptist church. North Keene Way dr. at Ridgeway. At the 11 a. m. service a the World Fellowship offering will be received. This is one of two special offerings taken during the year in the American Bap tist convention churches to aid work in foreign countries.
