EIGHT MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Tuesday, October 2. 19SS Society Main Society Pag 2) Butte Falls Club Considers Many Fund Projects Butt Fall Monthly potluck dinner meetings of the Butte Falls Lions club and auxiliary will be held at the Union hall in the future rather than in the city park, due to the cooler weather. Projects for the coming year were discussed at a meeting of the auxiliary September 26. Mrs. Charles Capello thanked the auxiliary for flowers sent at the birth of a son, Jerry Leland, last month. An Italian luncheon was served September 27 at the Union hall from 11 ajn. until 1 p.m. The luncheon was a trial project, and proved successful and profitable. A plan to serve international luncheons on a monthly or semi-monthly basis will be discussed at the next meeting. Other projects considered by the auxiliary are the sale of candy at Christmas time, the sale of picture slates, a combi nation food and rummage sale nd a public Thanksgiving din ner. Hostesses for the next potluck dinner and meeting October 24 are to be Mrs. F. C. Poole and Mrs. William Hartlerode. The first "jalopy brunch" was held at the home of Mrs. F. E. Poole the morning of September 26, and was reported a success. The co-hostess, Mrs. Capello, picked members up "by sur prise." Mrs. Poole will assist the next hostess. The visit of the Bloodmobile io Shady Cove Tuesday, October 9, was announced. Hours will be from 2 until 8 p.m. and Mrs. Ca pello announced that blood don ors, volunteer workers and typ ists are needed. Anyone interest ed is asked to contact Mrs. Ca pello. First plans were made for a Halloween party for Danny Gar diner, who is at the state school for the blind and who is a favor ite with the club members, and his class. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Holman. The Lioni and auxil iary members welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cupples who have re. jrned to the club after sev eral months of inactivity. To Hold Dinner Eagle Point Eagle Point Home Economics club planned a dinner and fall bazaar during a meeting held September 26. The event will be held October 20. A report of the recent rum mage sale indicated that the project was successful. Guests were Mrs. Lester Mc Fall, Mrs. Deane Garrett and Mrs. John Smith. Dessert was served by Mrs. Ruby Stowell, with Mrs. Glen Waddell as co-hostess. Mooseheart Film Shown for Groups; Woman Honored Women of the Moose were guests of the Loyal Order of Moose at Moose hall September 26 for the showing of a film about Mooseheart, the Child City at Moseheart, III., and Moose- haven In Florida. After the showing of the film Mrs. Emmet Crowford gave a report on her trip to Mooseheart where she attended the national conference. She was then pre sented her star recorder pin by Mrs. Ray Danial;, senior regent. Later the women's group held a business meeting. Mrs. Char ley Kelly was elected to mem bership. Star Recorders' day was held at Roseburg September 30. Three star recorders, Mrs. Crow ford, Medford, Mrs. Lucile Crow and Mrs. Hazel Jamison both of Roseburg, were honored. Chapters participating in the ritual were Medford, Grants Pass, Roseburg, Cottage Grove, and Powers. A class of 13 can didates was initiated. Women from Medford who at tended were Mrs. Ray Danials, Mrs. Crowford, Mrs. Harry Fin ley, Mrs. Yetta Flowers, Mrs. Marjorie Shepler, Mrs. Jim Rob erts, Mrs. Dewey Gearin, Mrs. John Summerfield, Mrs. E. L. Cooper, Mrs. E. L. Thompson and Mrs Bill Godwin, who was initiated. , The next meeting of Medford chapter will be Wednesday, Oc tober 10 at Moose hall 8 p.m. Easier to Cut, Sew and Fit Society President Talks on Roses For Howard Club At the September meeting of Howard Garden club, Eldred Peyton, president of Medford Rose society, spoke. He talked of the history and types of roses and brought over 50 specimens, explaining the characteristics of each one. Mr. Peyton showed slides of his own rose garden, and also some of gardens in Portland. The speaker explained how to start roses from cuttings. It was announced that a school on flower arrangements will be held in Phoenix Friday, October 5. Further information may be had by calling the club president, Mrs. L. C. McCoy. For the October meeting, to be held at the home of Mrs. John Crocker on Coker Butte road, it was suggested that members dress for a hike since this will be a field tour to gather material for winter bouquets. Mrs. H. E.
