EAGLE POINT Ellsworth To Speak Here LOUISE M. BERG Eagle Point Harris Ellsworth who is seeking reelection as rep resentative from the fourth dis trict, will be guest of honor at the home of Mrs. Vinson Vaughn on Brownsboro road at an in formal coffee hour beeinning at 1 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 6. The public U Invited. On Wednesday a work day was held at the Borean Church by the ladies of the congregation to repair and mend clothing for the children of Korean families . and the local needy. Mrs. Kenneth Edmondson and children. Jane Ann and Kelley. from Seneca, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, par ents of Mrs. Edmondson. Mrs. Ruby Stowell, assisted by Mrs. Glen Waddcll, entertain ed the Grange home economic club last Wednesday. Plans were discussed for a carnival to be held In the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Holgate. of Glcndale, Calif., are visiting their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Himmelman. Mrs. Merlyn has returned to her home from the Sacred Heart hospital and is recovering nicely. The new Standard truck sta tion on the Crater Lake highway will be open for business in the near future. Steve Wilson, own er, will give 24 hour service and carrying a full line of ac cessories. Mary Simmons has returned to her home in Prospect from the Sacred Heart hospital. She will soon return to the Red Blanket mill where she is employed as a bookkeeper. Mr. T. W. Haley, of Enterprise, has been visiting his sister Ruby Stowell and his brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Haley. Pat has been very ill, but is improved now. The Desert cafe located next to the Desert service station at Camp White, will be open for business about Wednesday. Pat and Lois Ryan, formally of the Busy Bee in Medford will be in charge. The new building is made of pumice block, and was built by contractor Sandy Clave. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mitchell, who have been spending the sum mer at Diamond Lake, were in town last week. They will re turn to spend the winter here when the season is closed at the ; lake. Bcyd and Kay Dunford, son of Mrs. N. A. Dunford. have entered colleges. Boyd is study- ing pre-mechanical engineering t at OSC and Kay is taking art ; education in Eugene. Mrs. Henry Hardrath of Owen, i Wisconsin, is spending the winter . with her son and daughter-in-; law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hard ! rath and family. : Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Halvorson will spend the week end visit i Ing Mr. and Mrs. Lenord Bagger and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pierce in L Eugene. Mrs. Dolly Ests is leaving for . Tygh Valley where she will ' spend the winter months. Mr. Ests will remain in town where he is employed at the Ross lum ; ber company. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Cave are ' spending the week end In Red ding with friends. Doris Jackson and Mildred Dunford spent last week end ; visiting friends in Coquille and Empire. Gertrude Stanley will be hos tess on October 11 to the Home Extension club. The project will be on the making of sofa pillows. Mrs. R. B. Chamberlain and Mrs. E. R. Chamberlain were ; the guests of Mrs. Gene Cham- berlain at a luncheon given by . the Sojourner's held at Mon ; Desir Thursday. Bonnie Etzel entertained the ; Faculty bridge club Friday eve ; ning in her home. Prizes were ' won by Virginia Calloway, Ester Hopper and Evelyn Ousterhout. ; Ester Hopper will be hostess at the next party, to be held in two : weeks. The Northwest manufacturing company has completed the re pairs on their new offices. Shir-' ley Ayres is bookkeeper for the company. Mrs. William Cavin of Klam ath River, is visiting her daugh ter. Ora Smith. Bertland Stanley has complet ed loading his steers and heifers and is shipping them to Red ding. Calif. Among those who left for deer hunting were, M. J. Stark, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Edgerton, Don Mike Hayes and daughter have moved into the Mitchell cottage. Hayes is employed by the Ross lumber company in White City. Ashpool, Sandy Clave, Stan I Augusta Perry has returned Straus, Clinton Ayres, Willard ' from visiting her sister in lira and Jerry Cave. Mrs. Lester Smith of Port Or ford has been the guest of her sister Mrs. Albert Shaw. Eugene. The Red Blanket mill opera tions are now being conducted at their new location in White City, however, the business of fice and wholesale office will con tinue to operate in their former location until further notice. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. McKinney of Sacramento, Calif., were guests of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Irwin. Mrs. Delta Jenson is reported 'Emergencies Don't Wait Week' Proclaimed Mayor Earl Miller has issued a proclamation designating the week of Oct. 1 to 7 as "Emer gencies Don't Wait Week." to be very ill in the Sacred Heart hospital.
