Thaft Lewie Horace Bruer, Seattle, Wash., reported Satur day to Medford police the theft of a red leather suitcase contain ing one silver-fox jacket and miscellaneous clothing from his car while it was parked at 315 Portland ave. Medford, shot and killed himself at about 2:40 a.m. today with a .30-.30 caliber deer rifle, city police reported this morning. . According to the report. Rags dale shot himself through the chest in the bedroom of his home while his wife was asleep in the same room. Mrs. Ragsdale told police she ran to the home of a neighbor. Sam Walter Hess, 1213 West 9th St., and brought him to the scene of the shoot ing. Hess then telephoned city police. Officers said Ragsdale had been suffering from multiple sclerosis for the past two years-. After the coroner arrived. Peachey, 75, Eagle Point, who died Thursday, will be held in the Ashland Mortuary, 4th and C St., Ashland. Tuesday at 1 p.m. with members of the Medford IOOF lodge officiating. Commit tal will be in the Mountain View cemetery. Mr. Peachey was born in Clearwaer. Mo., on Aug. 14, 1881. He crossed the plains from Missouri to southern Oregon in 1900 with his parents, the late Albert and Henrietta Peachey He attended Southern Oregon Normal school for two years and went to work for the forest service in 1909. On Nov. 16. 1913, at Eagle Point he was mar ried to Margaret Elizabeth Da ley, who survives. He left the forest service in 1932 and moved to Aohland, where he worked for many years for the Bellview Telephone company. In 1952 he retired and moved to Eagle Point. Survivors besides his wife in clude son, Llewellyn Peachey, Ashland; daughters, Mrs. Kath ryn Jandreau, Medford, and Mrs. Josephine Carroll, Port land; sisters, Mrs. Anna Bish. Eugene, Mrs. Bertha Baughman, Ashland, Mrs. Maude Port, Jack sonville, Mrs. Nell Dunn, Ash land, and Mrs. Mary I. Marvel. Indiana; brothers, Ernest Peach ey, Baring. Wash.. MANKE Funeral services for Julius A Manke, 77, of Jacksonville-Central Point rd., who died in Wis consin Wednesday will be held in the Conger-Morris chapel Tuesday at 3 p.m. Rev. Norman K. Tuily of the Presbyterian church vill officiate. Committal will be in the Jacksonville cemetery. Mr. Manke was born July 25, 1879, in Germany. He had made his home in this community since 1911. On Aug. 18, 1895 in Mahaska county. Iowa. he was married to Estella Jane Bodenhammer, who preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1940. Survivors include a .son. Earl Lockard, Medford, and grand son, Keith Lockard, Medford. BEATEN, bound and nude, Mrs. Ruth Latham, 51, wife of a San Diego investment broker, is found in Califor nia desert and given treat ment at El Centro hospital. She names two San Diego women, Mrs. Beatrice Winn and Mrs. Lucille Whisenand "kidnapers." STARTING SEPT. 18-10 a.m. Monday, September 17. 19SS Applegafe Man Dies From Wound Caska Eugene Allen, 78. who has been living at the Ed Kubli ranch in the Applegate area, died at 4 a.m. today as the re sult of a bullet wound state police said was self-inflicted. Kubli summoned officers to his ranch at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. He said he heard the shot and went outside, where he found Allen lying on the ground with a head wound. Officers said the shot was fired with a .22 caliber rifle. Allen was taken to Sacred Heart hospital by Medford Am bulance service. Perl's Funeral home is in charge of arrange ments. Services are pending word from relatives. Allen, a resident of Jackson county for the past 25 years, was a carpenter by trade. Sur vivors include two brothers. Charles L. Allen, Ronan, Mont., and Francis W. Allen, Portland; a sister. Mrs. C. L. Fleming. Newport, Wash., and a nephew, C. F. Rathbone, Santa Anna, Calif. Kempf. 205 Portland ave.. reported to police the theft of approximately eight gallons of gasoline from two cars park ed at his residence and Lloyd Stanley Huston. 209 Portland ave., also told police that an un known amount of gasoline was siphoned from his car while it was parked at him home.
