Billy Lee Marshall, 25,. of 2685 Connell ave., driver of one of the vehicles, and his wife Vidi Marie, 22, were taken by Medford Ambulance service to Rogue Valley hospital. Mar shall suffered minor lacerations and his wife, an expectant mother, suffered lacerations and a concussion. Their 21-month-old son, David Edwin, was re ported uninjured. According to the officers' re port, Marshall was traveling west on Howard ave., when his car collided at the intersection with a vehicle operated by Bryan Douglas Sewell, 15, route 2, box 115, Ceneral Point. Of ficers said Sewell's car skidded 49 feet before striking the Mar shall vehicle. The Marshall car was knocked against a power pole and all three occupants were thrown from the car. Driver Not Hurt Sewell was uninjured, officers said. ' j Roy Johnson, 18. son of Claude W. Johnson of 2612 Howard ave.. suffered a sprained back and ; shock at 5:35 a.m. today when j the car he was operating ran off j highway 66 and struck a tree j near Mountain View Camp east I of Lincoln, according to slate j police. State police said the accident occurred while Johnson was traveling east on the highway. He apparently fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road, of- Palient Mrs. Carl Peres. Medford. was cited by state police for having inadequate brakes after the dump truck he was operating collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 99 and Stewart ave., yesterday at 12:35 p.m. Officers said the dump truck and a sedan operated by Dale Dealus Hill. 57, Corpus Cristi. Tex., were both traveling north toward the intersection. Accord ing to the report. Hill stopped In the outside lane when the traf fic light turned red. Vigil Jold officers he applied the brakes but they failed to operate. His truck struck the rear of Hill's car, then crashed into a power pole. No injuries were reported. Gets Citation Elmer Marshall Denzer. 26, of 1567 Camp Baker rd., Med ford. was cited by state police for failure to yield the right of way after the 1931 model coach he was driving collided with a car operated by Ruth George Crain, 712 Waverly ave., Med ford. The accident occurred at the intersection of Pioneer rd. and Coleman Creek rd. at 4:45 p.m. Monday. Officers said Denzer was trav eling west on Coleman Creek rd.. when his vehicle collided at the intersection with Mrs. Crain's car. Dcnzer's vehicle turned over but was righted and driven from the scene. Damage to Mrs. Crain's car was reported minor. Neither Denzer. Truck Strikes Sign, Damages 3 Autos A two-hour parking sign was knocked over when a truck trail er pushed three parked cars into each other on South Central ave. yesterday afternoon, according to city polite. Officers reported that a truck and trailer driven by John Henry Collins. Yreka. Calif., was turn ing right onto South Central ave. from 10th t. The truck turned too sharply and the side of the trailer hit a parked station wagon register ed to Alvera Elvert McDonald, route 1, box 653, Eagle Point, po lice said. The vehicle went over the curb pushing over the park ing sign, and crashed into the rear of another nearby parked car registered to Roy Elliott, 157 Renault ave. . The second car was shoved by the impact into the rear of a third car registered to James W. Movvcry. Gold Hill, which was parked in front of it. No citations were issued. Fend ers were dented and several lights broken on the three cars. The truck and trailer received no apparent damage, police said. News About Servicemen STAMM GRADUATES Navy Lt. jg Ernest A. Declines of a point or more Obituaries CHARLES ALBERT ROWLEY Charles Albert Rowley, a res ident of Medford for the past 27 years, died at his home. 322 South Riverside ave., early Sat urday morning. Mr. Rowley was born in Iowa on Feb. 17. 1873, and was 83 years old. He is survived by his wife, Faye Rowley, Medford: cou sin, Emma Graham, Venice, Cal.; three brothers-in-law. L. T. Smylie, Stockton, Cal., and C. f.. and L. R. Smylie, Vallejo. Cal. He was married to his first wife, Mrs. Minnie Rowley, more than 50 years. She died in 1949. Funeral services will be held at the Perl funeral home on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Richard M. Jones officiating. Interment will take place in Siskiyou Memorial park. Alcoholism ! costs American industry about j one billion dollars a year, a men tal health specialist told the an nual . Pacific Northwest indus trial health conference yester day. Dr. William Menninger, To peka, Kan., said alcoholism is a blight on industry which affects one person in every 50 and from the ground floor to top manage ment. Its two companions are accidents and absenteeism, he said. Bids Called for Work In Irrigation Project Portland m.B Bids will be opened Sept. 28 for construction of a pumping station and reha bilitation of the irrigation works on the Modoc Point irrigation project on the Klamath Indian reservation. Bids were invited on this proj ect July 20 but the opening was postponed in order to make changes in the specifications.
