Prince, Princess
To Sail for U.S.
Paris (U P) Princess Grace of
Monaco said today "I have no
plans for making any films" but
she would not say whether her
movie carreer was finished for
ever. Grace and Prince Rainier ar
rived in Paris from Monaco this
morning en route to the United
States for a two months visit.
They sail September 7 on the
liner United States for New
York.
Paris and London press reports
said Miss Kelly had finished mov
ies for good.
The Prince and Princess, who
expect an heir in February, are
making their first trip to the
United States since they were
married last April 18. They re
turn November 19 for Monaco's
National day.
They were cheered on the
Monaco platform by a thousand
Monegasques shouting "Vive le
Prince et la Princess."
Princess Grace, her blonde
hair swept back, wore sun glas
ses and a plain white linen hip
length maternity jacket buttoned
in front and belted in the back,
a straight hanging roal blue
skirt and a red and white silk
scarf.
She clung to Rainier's arm as
they stepped from the train ,in
Paris. He wore a blue blazer and
grey flannel slacks.
They smiled for photographers
as they walked along the station
platform but had almost noth
ing to say to reporters. Grace
told the United Press that she
had no plans for making films
but when pressed whether her
acting career was over forever
merely frowned prettily.-

Reducing Diet
Must Be Safe,
Director Says
The need for safe and prac
tical reducing plans to safeguard
the public is emphasized in a
abatement by Dr. Charles Glen
Kink, executive director of The
Nutrition Foundation.
" Almost every week we hear
of a new reducing diet. Some
times the diets are sensible, at
tractive. . and well balanced.
Generally they are not. A single
food is sometimes suggested as
a key to weight control. But
people quickly tire of eating a
diet that is monotonous or
severely restricted. Nor do such
poorly bananced diets help a per
son to adjust his eating habits in
a permanent or satisfying man
ner. Guidance to good food habits
is a basic feature of all sound
reducing plans.
"In such a basic plan, there
should be no emphasis on any
one nutrient or food. Only cal
ories are restricted. And any
regime promising calories un
limited is an obvious fraud.
"Some form of animal protein
meat, eggs, milk, cheese, fish,
or poultry plus a cereal food
and fruit or vegetable should be
served with each meal. This
eliminates the one drink or
capsule meal.
"Fruits and vegetables should
be well represented as a major
source of minerals, vitamins,
energy, and bulk, as well as
variety and flavor.
'Though fats and oils are high
in calorie content and should be
kept in bounds, a moderate
amount is beneficial. Fat is an
essential nutrient and adds to
our enjoyment of food. It has
been observed that subjects on
diets severely restricted in fat
were not as successful in losing
weight as those who ate one egg
each day, meat twice daily, dairy
products, with butter or mar
garine for bread or vegetables,
and some salad oil for fruit,
vegetable, and' other salads.
"Check these points with any
reducing plan you are consider
ing. Keep in mind that you ean
enjoy good eating while reduc
ing. Even - when calories are re
stricted, a well balanced reduc
ing diet will supply foods that
have flavor, color, variety, and
all the requirements for health
and enjoyment of the consumer.
If one wants to reduce faster,
simply eat less at one or more
meals and exercise more. Watch

Cottons Make
Fashion News
Two outstanding fashion in
spirations for girls are favored j
by designers of children s cot
ton clothes this year. These are
one, the ideas borrowed if om the
boys' classic Ivy League ideas,
and two. the old-fashioned look
of feminine, frilly peasant styles
and prints, reports the National
Cotton council.
Blazer striped corduroys in
terpret slim Ivy League jackets
buttoned with brass or pearl "but
tons. Corduroy caps, slim slacks
and button-down collar shirts and
blouses have a flavor of this
boyish fashioning.
Wrinkle - resistant cottons
printed in provincial foliage, Ty
rolean hearts and flowers, and
in neat calico patterns interpret
the old fashioned look of many
styles.
There's old world charm in the
leg-o-mutton sleeves featured by
classic shirtwaisters for all age
groups. There's a real Early Am
erican flavor to the long-sleeved
frocks interpreted in calico print
ed cottons. Jumpers are charm
ing in new floral printed cot
tons. For at home and sleep wear,
quilted separates in peasant print
cottons are shown in circle skirts,
tapered slacks and shorts. Cord
uray slacks combine with pull
over tops in corduroy or cotton
knit.
