tion to his parents include a

grandfather, A. G. Davidson,
Grants Pass; and several uncles,

Mrs. Gertrude Herriott, Med
ford, and aunt of Mrs. John
Mansfield, and Robert Herriott,
Medford; Mrs. Lester Smith,
Redlands, Calif., Mrs. Thomas
Nunan, San Mateo; Don Her
riott, San Bruno;, Jack Herriott,
Klamath Falls, and Clay John,
Phoenix.
. In charge of funeral arrange
ments is the Chapel of Chimes
in Oakland. Mrs. Stratton's hus
band, John, died many years
ago.

Slated September 2
The annual dog show and obe
dience trials of Southern Oregon
Kennel club will be held Sunday,
September 2, at the senior high
school football field it was an
nounced today. The unbenched
show will begin1 at 9:30 a.m. and
continue until late afternoon ac
cording to Anton Hrankay,
Grants Pass, president. The pub
lic is welcome to attend. -
The show, one of a series held
in southern Oregon each Labor
day week end, always attracts
dog owners from many western
cities and a score of breeds will
be entered in several classes.

State Committeeman
J. Richard Smurthwaite Jr.,
member of the governor's com
mittee on employment for the
physically handicapped, met with
the Jackson county committee
here last night.
Smurthwaite, who Is Oregon
representative of the U. S. De
partment of Labor, outlined the
state committee's plans for the
special week in October to pro
mote employment for the handi
capped. He also pledged state
committee assistance to carry
out the program in Jackson
county and offered several ideas
for the local group.
Col. Arthur. M. Savard, local
chairman, heard reports from
committee members and plans
for an essay contest in county-
schools were discussed. The con
test would be based on the han
dicap employment theme and
entries would be judged in state
and national competition.
