August 28. 1956 Eagle Point Unit Gives Large Party Eagle Point Eagle Point Home Extension unit was hostess to 55 members and friends, at the home of Mrs. Don Ashpole on the evening of August 16. New officers were introduced. They are Mrs. Ashpole, presi dent; Mrs. Frank Glowing, vice president; Mrs. Glenn Clymer, secretary: and Mrs. Ray Cham berlain, treasurer. . Mrs. Maxine Berryman spoke on "How to be Charming" and Mrs. Don McGovern showed pic tures of her recent trip to Ha waii. Mrs. Leland Charley, direc tor of district five in Home Ex tension work, gave a preview of the 1955-56 program. After the meeting a silver tea was held. The new officers announce that all women in the commun itr are welcome to attend the meetings which are held the sec ond Thursday of each month. Child care is provided by Mrs Edna Cunningham for a nominal charge plus a sack lunch for the child. When making sandwiches from frozen bread, remove the necessary slices and return the rest of bread to the freezer. The bride is the former Miss Dor othy Louise Clymer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn D. Clymer, Eagle Point, and Mr. Wilson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wilson, Santa Barbara. The Rev.. Roy Petersen read the marriage ceremony, and Mr. Clymer gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a ballerina frock of white cotton embroid ered eyelet fashioned with cap sleeves and sweetheart neck line. Her elbow-length veil was held by a coronet of seed pearls and she carried an orchid with stephanotis on a white Bible. Matron - of - honor was Mrs. Ralph Humphrey, Palo Alto, sister of the bride. She wore a rown of yellow nylon dotted Swiss and carried a cascade bouquet of yellow carnations. Miss Jean Siemens and Mrs. Harold Stombs also attended the bride. They wore identical frocks of blue nylon dotted Swiss and carried blue carnation cascade bouquets. . Louise Humphrey, niece of the bride and flower girl, wore a blue nylon frock and carried yellow and white gladiolus. Lor- en Leih carried the rings. Robert Richard was best man for Mr. Wilson and ushers were Ralph Humphrey, brother-in-law of the bride, and Harold Stombs. Pouring and assisting at the reception were Mrs. Tamara An drews, Mrs. Diane Grobovsky, Mrs. Elizabeth Nephew, Mrs. Theo Marcus, Miss Ruth Sovold, Miss Elinor Johnson, Miss Nan cy McGree, Miss Lois Hufstader and Miss Carol Johns. Mr. Wilson and his bride spent a week in Yosemite Na tional park for their honeymoon and are now living at 2111 Las Canoas street in Santa Barbara. The bride attended Eagle Point High school and Westmont college, Santa Barbara. She is employed by an insurance firm. Best way to keep bread fresh is to put it in a cool, ventilated container or in a freezer. Re frigerator storage isn't recom mended because cold sets up a stale flavor. Bread stays fresh in its orig inal package for a few days but for longer storage it needs to be put in a moisture-proof wrapper and sealed. Saltmarsh, both Medford. Miss Robison is a daughter of Mrs. Grace Robi son, 612 West Fourth street, and A. C. Robison, Newton, la., and Mr. Saltmarsh is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Saltmarsh, 2710 Stewart avenue, Medford. The bride-elect was graduated from Medford High school and is employedy Table Rock Lum ber company; her fiance was graduated from the same school and is employed by Jorgensen's dairy. The wedding is planned for November 10 at First Methodist church in this city. Plan Picnic Rogue Valley Herb society plans a picnic Tuesday, August 28 at noon in Hawthorne park. Those attending are asked to bring their own table service. Husbands of the members are invited to attend. Homemaker's Day Set Wednesday On SOC Campus Dr. Arthur Keisman, profes sor of English at Southern Ore gon college, will be the princi pal speaker at the afternoon ses sion of District 5, Oregon Home extension meeting Wednesday in Ashland. He will speak on "Working With People." Extension members from Jose phine, Jackson and Klamath counties and their friends are invited to attend the homemak ers' day in Susanne Homes hall on the Southern Oregon college campus. Registration will start at 10:30 a.m. and those attend ing should bring a sack lunch. Dr. Elmo Stevenson, Southern Oregon college president, will welcome the group. Miss Franc es Clinton, home economics state extension leaders, Mrs. M. C. Smith, state home economics council president, Miss Betty Jane Sedgwick, district exten sion leader from Corvallis, and Mrs. Leland M. Charley, Brownsboro, director for district S, will also Ije on the program. Group singing will be led by Mrs. Leola Edge of Eagle Point. Mother, Daughter Return From Trip Rogue River r Mrs. Ray K. Moore, Rogue River, returned Thursday from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn R. Osborn, in Vancouver, Wash., and and another daughter, Mrs. Frances Erlandson in Wishram, Wash. She was accompanied by a third daughter, Mrs. Verlan Kiewel of I Los Angeles, Calif., on the trip north. All three daughters were guests of Mrs. Moore at Rogue River for a week. One of the highlights of this family reunion was a trip on the mail boat up the Rogue from Wedderburn to Agnes, Ore., which the visitors enjoyed great ly. Miss June Witt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Witt, Norwalk, became the bride of Irwin Ditch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Ditch of Central Point, in a ceremony held July 27 in Temple Baptist church. The Rev. Kenneth Lion officiated at the 10 o'clock serv ice. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white nylon lace over white satin. Her shoulder length veil fell from a crown of satin and pearls and she carried a bouquet of white gardenias and red rosebuds. Matron of honor was Mrs. John Taylor, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Sunya Witt, sister of the bride, and Miss Wendy MacLaren. Kathy Whit icker was flower girl. Mickey Phillips was best man. The church was decorated with baskets of white gladiolus. Mrs. Ditch, mother of the bridegroom who attended her son's wedding, wore a dress of aquamarine. Mrs. Witt, mother of the bride, chose a black dress accent,ed with silver. They both had white carnation corsages. After a short trip to San Diego the couple are making their home in Norwalk. The bridegroom attended Cen tral Point High school and served with the U.S. Navy for four years. He is employed by a con struction company in Norwalk. Grandmothers' Club Announces Meeting Rogue chapter of Grandmoth ers club will meet for a business session Monday, August 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Clayton J. Walker, 129 North Oakdale avenue. A report of the nominating committee will be given. Members are asked to be on time so they may attend Olaf Severson's funeral later. The Alabama Extension Serv ice says that congealed salads can be unmolded ahead of serv ing time and kept refrigerated on a cookie sheet, ready for quick serving when guests arrive.
