(U.PJ Mrs. Vera Terwilliger, Dunning li brarian, recalls that neither she nor any other of President Eis enhower's youthful companions back in Abilene, Kan., thought he would "do anything special." "He was such an ordinary boy;" Mrs,. Terwilliger said. Mrs. Terwilliger recalled that the. President at the age of 18 was a "tall, gangling kid who work ed pretty hard, like all of the other kids -around town." His present popularity doesn't surprise Mrs. Terwilliger. She said "people seemed to like him personally and undoubtedly still do, even if they don't, happen to agree with his politics."
