Oregon Delegates
Will Stick With
Adlai-Kefauver
Chicago (U.R) The 16
Oregon votes in the Democratic
convention will be for a Stev-enson-Kefauver
ticket "to the
death," the state's delegation
agreed today.
The group is bound to Adlai
E. Stevenson for the presidential
nomination under Oregon law,
and for Sen. Estes Kefauver (D
Tenn.), for vice president as a
result of write-in ballots in the
state's primary.
Sen. Richard L. Neuberger (D
Ore.), the delegation chairman,
reminded the delegates of their
obligation at a caucus. He said
he was telling other delegates
the Oregon group was for the
Stevenson-Kefauver ticket "till
death do us part."
The delegates adopted a mo
tion after his announcement
pledging "full support" to the
two candidates.
Neuberger told the delegation
he had talked to Kefauver, and
the Tennessee senator "definite
ly wants our support and ap
preciates it greatly." Neuberger
said he has offered to make a
seconding speech to Kefauver's
nomination.
J. Howard McGrath, former
attorney general, earlier asked
for Oregon support for Kefauv
er for vice president. He said
there has been a "tremendous
response" to Kefauver's candidacy.

in the air.
Navy spokesmen in Seattle
said the plane had taken off
from Sand Point naval station
here at 2:15 p.m. yesterday on
a flight to North Island, Calif.
The three men aboard were
identified as Lt. (jg) Gene Dank
inbridge, Lt. (jg) R. W. Bogan
and Airman James E. McCarty.
Witnesses said that two dis
tinct explosions could be heard.
An engine from the plane plum
meted to the ground in a wheat
field, starting a small fire.
The three men aboard were
shaken up and suffered from
minor burns and shock. They
were taken to Sacred Heart hos
pital in Eugene for treatment.

Brink's Trial Jury
Box Remains Empty
Boston (U.R) Fourteen
prospective jurors .were elimi
nated today as the trial of eight
Brink's robbery defendants
went into its second week with
a still empty jury box.
This left 86 veniremen from
whidh to pick possible jurors at
today's session. A total of 415
out of 2.000 drawn for the case
now have been excused or re
jected. The defense claims an
impartial jury cannot be selected.
Today's 14 were excused for
health or family reasons or be
cause they could not be found
for trial of the eight men
charged with the record $1,219,

It was considered probable

more weeks to seat a jury.
